Re: Dr Who
Watched the repeat tonight on BBC3. The male singer was in two scenes. He had long straight hair and in the first scene a dark brown print dress. In the second slightly longer scene (featuring the Doctor in a kilt), the singer was in a shortish pleated green dress with spotty sheer tights which we s...

Re: Dr Who
I watch Dr Who because I feel I have to - it hasn't really delivered for years. I noticed the new Doctor in the kilt, dressed in a way that would hardly be noticed in Scotland. But there was a band in the same scene and one of the band members appeared to be a man in a dress or a skirt who then got ...

Re: The Beskirted Man
How do you find some style? This is my main motivation in wearing skirts and dresses and the most obvious answer is you can find it by watching women. But we don't grow up with daily feedback about how to wear these clothes and when I made the move - which for me included dressing as a woman - the l...

Re: Male anatomy
I think this problem is a bit over-stated. As long as you avoid situations where "the problem might get bigger" (or keep these private!) there need only be an issue if you insist on wearing tight clothes. You then either live with the bulge or do something to conceal it. Apparently some cr...

Re: Women wearing skirts
Lots of dresses in the shops but few skirts. I am happy with this as I prefer dresses to skirts. Women have told me that in summer they prefer some form of trousers to prevent "chub rub" and one has told me that in winter she is fed up ruining tights when crossing her legs wearing boots an...

Re: The Gurdian: Fashion designer Thom Browne: ‘Men should be able to wear anything’
I recall the many references to the Grauniad. I think Private Eye still calls the paper by this name. I also recall that some (maybe 20) years ago one of the UK broadsheets ran a story about the new skirt suits for men. It was an April Fool, but they were apparently inundated with enquiries. Getting...

Re: Dressing for Fall and winter
just out of curiosity, has anyone tried petticoats under their skirt if cold weather? I was wondering because I've heard some of the ladies at my square dance club make comments about them getting hot. As I only wear tights up to 40d so ut can get a bit cold. It is 7C below here (well, outside, 20 ...

Re: Things that I wear or do that are considered femme by others
I actually like encountering perfume on women, unless it is a sickening fragrance - and some are. Male aftershave is just a pollutant and I don't wear it. Male deodorant/anti-perspirant usually smells awful, so I use Mitchum unscented, which for some reason is marketed only to women. I often wear sc...

Shirt dresses
I have quite a number of dresses that are similar to quite long (below knee length) shirts. The collars are softer and they button up the "other" way and some have fabric tie belts which you can leave out. They strike me as an easy entry to dresses for anyone reticent about going there. Mo...

Re: "freedom. Society and only society will provide the answer, not those of us who are asking the question."
"Pretend he's a woman" refers to a view of transexuals. It does not relate to men who wear skirts. This is a generalisation. I occasionally venture out and about completely dressed as a woman (bust, make up, wig, body language, scent, voice) so am pretending to others that I am a woman. I...

Re: Ballet Flats for Men Articles
I usually wear at least a medium or kitten heel with a skirt or dress but I recently bought a pair of flats in unbelievably soft leather. They are by Carmela (not Carvela) and cost £85 from a local independent shoe shop. I find bare feet in shoes a bit squelchy but sandals are OK, so I wear tights w...

Re: If you could eliminate one thing in the world, what would it be?
If we were limited to one thing, I would not put skirt freedom at the top of the list. It rather pales into insignificance compared with people killing each other, people trafficking, organised crime, slavery - the list goes on.

Re: Article in Student Magazine
When I was a little boy - perhaps 6-7 - I went through a brief phase of believing girls were a lower form of life. It didn't last long. In my teens and as a student I had very long wavy hair and was occasionally assumed to be female. It didn't upset me - not even slightly. That was before I embraced...

Re: Dressing for Fall and winter
I am not a fan of very thick tights. Once you go above 40d you lose the sensation of wearing a skirt or dress. If it gets really really cold instead of thickening the tights, wear a long heavy skirt such as a lined woollen skirt, and leather boots reaching to just below the knee. If the skirt is unl...

Re: Pessimism or Optimism?
I am not convinced you need to be one or the other when it comes to future skirts. If you have to choose one, why not choose optimism? That way you feel better all the time and the only possibility of feeling bad is IF it all doesn't go to plan. If you choose pessimism you feel bad all the time even...
