Re: Christmas greeting + PF 2021

What a beautiful picture of the town cloaked in fresh snow-fall. Magical!

Re: Does wearing a mask make it easier?

Wearing a face-mask is something done out of altruism. We all know that it's not something we do for "ME", but rather for those around us. Hopefully those around us are as courteous as we should be. I was hesitant to take the mask advice up because of overly-cautious guidance given to a child in a h...

Re: Update on my Wife

Adding insult to injury, the hospital staff booted Al from the premises, giving him a COVID test in the process telling him, "you'll get the results by mail" (and the implicit one of, "don't come back until the test results do."). Given the time of year, and the state of the USPS, he's not going to ...

Re: Gaslighting

You mean like what happened in 2008 when the Democratic party drug its feet for two years "working on" drafting a real Healthcare plan, all the while the GOP went to work spreading a bunch of lies and fear mongering that won them back control of congress in 2010 resulting in the "A.C.A."...? Yes, I...

Re: Gaslighting

The point being Dave, is can Democrats get what they want shoved through a Republican Senate? The answer likely "no". Trump's party likes the health-"care" industry just the way it is. Wouldn't it make my point rather handily if a "Democratic"-controlled government "failed" to fix the health-care s...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

I once had thigh highs suggested to me, but I didn't think they'd actually stay up! I have a couple pair of those, and the ones with the silicone grips do actually stay up on my relatively straight legs. Ones without the grips can be dodgy as they're more like long socks than anything else, and I n...

Hmm, okey dokey, perhaps I’ll give the site a second look. Thanks!
Looks like mostly nosebleed heels and flats with little in the reasonable range.

Re: A Sincere Request of Help from Those Who Disagree with My Politics

I think that no-one is going to influence anyone with logic and rational thinking on this subject but one can try :) Like Elvis, rational thought and logic have long since "left the building". The main thing now is going to be to run the post-mortem to see if anybody can figure out what the Hell we...

Re: Not good for our cause

I don't think this group wearing yellow kilts would put me off doing the same any more than Stalin's love of chocolate cream would make me avoid ordering that as a dessert in a restaurant. The problem here is that if the image gets ingrained into the public then wearing something similar might be r...

Re: Gaslighting

A number of those things we could really do without (Amtrak, NPR, DoE, etc.). Without Amtrak I'd not be able to travel long distances without having to resort to my personal automobile. So, I regard that one as important as do many others -- quite a few of which do not own cars and for which Amtrak...

I think people are completely confused about socialism. From wikipedia: Socialism is a political, social and economic philosophy encompassing a range of economic and social systems characterised by social ownership of the means of production and workers' self-management of enterprises I would be ca...

I was encouraged by the reaction of the retailer, but that's going to put a dent in his bottom line. And the association is entirely unwelcome, but is not going to change my sense of style one lick -- because my doing that would hand them a victory. It also shows one of the reasons why we should att...

Re: Gaslighting

It's time to stop bouncing rants off the wall, and time to start bouncing ideas instead. Perhaps now that King Rant is about to be dethroned, maybe we can begin the process of real problem solving. When troubleshooting a broken system, it's frequently easiest to enumerate the things that are wrong ...
