Re: Greetings from Nový Knín
Welcome aboard from another 'isolated' spot where I may be the only guy routinely in a skirt -- Costa Rica (Gold Coast -- but dang little of the yellow stuff when panning here!) . You find my posts noting the utility of thrift shops for shopping and skirts -- just grab a couple longer/heavier ones f...

Re: 16 Days to Stop Violence Against Women
by Stu » Tue Nov 17, 2020 3:18 am The myth is that male-on-female violence is a greater issue than other kinds of violence Thanks for the clarification; I think this line succinctly expresses the core of a concern many of us do share -- but casual readers oft get lost as the academics employ the nu...

Re: 16 Days to Stop Violence Against Women
by Stu » Sun Nov 15, 2020 9:40 am I don't want to keep this going, but I would like to provide some insights of my own experiences. 1 If you doubt me, don't take my word for it. Listen to a world authority on this; Erin Pizzey is the woman who founded Women's Aid, which is an organisation formed ex...

Now this one I can smile with; though a few Seniors might be offended when their memory is called into question! Can I get it implanted?

Re: Maxine
Frankly I find the blatant attack on immigrants, the poor, repulsive and uninformed. Uncle Al, if you are worried about the "drain" from 'welfare' or even from 'welfare cheats' -- look at the real numbers -- the dollars involved in support of poverty in all of it's venues pales compared to the waste...

Re: Rules for Retirement
by Rokje » Sat Nov 14, 2020 6:53 am I still have to work for 11 years to reach my retirement. But I love my job as a truck driver. I would probably stay working for two or three days in a week. Adding in your comment about BMI and fat-tired bikes reminds me of a woman about your age who drove truck...

by Rokje » Fri Nov 13, 2020 9:08 am Riding your bike is much saver then your car. I own a mountain bike with fat snow tyres, and I'm still waiting for the first snow in years in this country. Oh well, people do react when they see me riding on that bike. Indeed. Fat tired bikes are becoming quite t...

Re: Gaslighting
Sadly the examples seem to turn the wisdom in this piece on its head. The implied suggestions are flat out wrong in most instances, and the conclusion that 95% of the masses not knowing they've been lied to, falls flat on its face too as in even this nearly evenly split election, neither number appr...

Re: Article about boys wearing skirts as a protest in Quebec school
Stu » Thu Nov 12, 2020 12:25 pm This is very sad in some respects. Rather than donning skirts to experience the comfort and freedom, or to have a fashion alternative to trousers, or even to assert their right to enjoy the same sartorial choices that females take for granted, they have instead bough...

Re: MORAL, US politics this week
by crfriend » Tue Nov 10, 2020 6:09 pm I'd posit that a super-majority of both houses of the US Congress are bought and paid for by the same oligarchs that purchase the presidency every four years. And the game is rigged in precisely the same way -- at the primary "election" level. Doing away with ...
