NY Times: It’s All a Blur to Them

By RUTH LA FERLA Published: November 18, 2009 “I’VE heard that in Australia, men are wearing tights,” Chuong Pham said. Tights for men, he acknowledged, may be extreme. But Mr. Pham, 28, an engineer in Manhattan, thought nothing of combining stalk-slim jeans with a sweatshirt pinched from his mom a...

Re: Private Messages

In general, public posting on this board of private messages will be removed. But the original author of the PM always has the option of leaving it up anyway.

Re: Goodbye

As a moderator, I have had to make the call on what to do with this post. We received the following opinion from one of our members: There's nothing actually wrong with this post except that it is a waste of electrons and perpetuates the impression of discord. Frankly "I'm off" posts usually are an...

Hmm.... I think it's visually unbalanced, with too much down below and not enough on top.

Re: The Gender of Jeans Debate and How it Relates to MUGs

The Girl's Jeans thread was locked, first and foremost, because it was a lightning rod for all sorts of inappropriate content. Look back in the 54 posts involved, and you can see that moderators had to step in many times, over a course of months. Any thread that requires this level of moderator int...

Re: Why was Girl's Jeans locked?

I support the locking decisions. This thread has been a lightening rod for people who seek to break the forum rules. I don't know why, but it has. After 54 posts on the subject, surely everyone has said about what they had to say about it. This was not a trigger-quick locking of a volatile subject, ...

Re: Confessions of a motorhead

When one studies the numbers, it turns out that there are far more similarities than differences in degree of auto dependence in Europe vs. the USA. And on both continents, it's possible to live largely without a car, depending on one's job and lifestyle.

Re: Wraps and bathrobes ARE skirts and dresses

I would say a robe is not a dress, nor is a robe a skirted garment, hence the different word used. A robe generally hangs from the shoulders and is worn over another garment (except for bath robes, which are worn in private). They usually open at the front. You wouldn't want to go out in public wear...

NY Times: Can a Boy Wear a Skirt to School?

BY now, most high school dress codes have just about done away with the guesswork. Girls: no midriff-baring blouses, stiletto heels, miniskirts. Boys: no sagging pants, muscle shirts. But do the math. “Rules” + “teenager” = “challenges.” If the skirt is an acceptable length, can a boy wear it? Can ...

Re: Skirt Boys Tribe Growing In Japan

I think a lot of people can't quite imagine what it's really like in their own mind. If they actually SEE a guy with skirted fashion, they usually realize all their snickering was for naught.

Skirts from the FashionSpot

Really, I don't know where this stuff came from. But I totally dig it. Great looks, great photos.

There's a difference between physical fitness and maintaining a healthy body weight. You can have either one without the other.

Re: A (Skirted) Man Walks into a Bar...

I guess I don't see what the million dollar aspect to the question is. If the law protects against discrimination for gender expression, why wouldn't that cover a guy in a skirt? The point is this: if a guy wearing a skirt is simply borrowing fashion "across the aisle," then it maybe it's not gende...

A (Skirted) Man Walks into a Bar...

There's some federal legislation going around now that would protect "gender identity" and "gender expression" --- both in terms of employment discrimination and in terms of making crimes against people for reasons of their "gender identity or expression" into a hate crime. The million dollar questi...
