Re: On Language

So, "What are we trying to say?" Are we saying that we do not care what we look like and that we do not care what others think of us when we put something on in the morning? Are we saying that we do not care that we'll get lumped in with perverts when we dwell in writing (or speech) about...

Re: Kilt Suggestions Please

The Midas skirts ... [are] ... well made skirts cut for the male body shape. What, exactly, is " the male body shape"? What single definition of "male body shape" would include, say, David Bowie, Hulk Hogan, Michael Jordan, my ex-wife's 700-pound friend, and Dame Edna, that woul...

Re: Kilt Suggestions Please

There are two sites that I would recommend, ... Utilikilts in Seattle [and] ... Midas Clothing in Manchester [UK] These are probably not cheap. I know Utilikilts run around $200 or more. I don't recall what Midas' skirts cost, but I doubt they're cheap, either. The other issue is getting a good fit...

Re: What would you like to see in a man's dress?

For a site that is correctly challenging the views of the ability of men to wear skirts, and the wide variety that are available to us (albeit with adjustment), this thread seems to be rather narrow in its views of men wearing what normally be called skirts. I've been mulling this one over for a wh...

Re: Kilt Suggestions Please

Would anybody know where I could buy Skirts made for men or the contemporary kilt that Wikipedia refers to? Skirts made specifically for men are going to cost hundreds of dollars. They are also probably still going to freak your parents out. "Contemporary" kilts are also pretty expensive ...

Why women might feel the need to wear trousers

While surfing around the web, I ran across this story: A Hell of a Time (you may need to fiddle with your cookie and JavaScript settings to get to the full story -- it took me a few tries to get it.) It's a pretty disgusting read -- the incident itself was bad, but some of the comments are even wors...

Re: PHOTOGRAPHS

In the USA, at least, under some circumstances, getting written permission may even be legally required. I am not a lawyer, so I don't know when it is required and when not; I do know that in a number of situations, photographers will ask people they photograph to sign a "model release" so...

Because you aren't interested in the asking the Contra Dancers here at the Cafe who weren't in the video?

Re: Skirted men at a contra dance

Those were really fantastic pictures for the cause of men in skirts. No one noticed, cared or was upset. It was in Kentucky both times, a former hearth of so-called hillbilly rednecks that would kill you for not getting a haircut, much less wearing a skirt. I'm not sure that this says all that much...

Would you be willing, for the benefit of those of us who can't watch YouTube, to let us know where these were taken, and what the name of the band(s) is/are?

Re: Riding a bike in heels!

[My first attempt to post this reply appears to have gone to the land of lost bits.] My personal opinion of riding bicycles with skirts or dresses - to me that it makes no sense. Pants were invented in part so one could easily ride horseback, and so they would be a natural choice for riding a bike. ...

Re: Using Plixi to find photos of men in skirts and kilts

I often wonder whether, one of these days, I'll come across a picture of myself that some candid-camera user has posted to the net. Putting "men's kilt" in Google will find a you a million pics, but, although I'm in a toursit town where everyone walks around with a camera, I don't think a...

Re: What is under the skirt?

AMM makes a valid point that there are probably more similarities than differences in what guys wear "under" and what women do -- at least on the lower part -- and the main differences are likely ones of fabric or detail. And all are similarly boring once one gets inured to them. Actually...

Re: What is under the skirt?

... what is under the skirt?.... I think you're making the same mistake that those men make who ask "what do women...?" or "why do women ....?" -- you're assuming that men are alike enough (and all different enough from yourself) that they can give you one answer, and that this ...

Re: Comparisons in the pics & looks area

...I suspect it may be a truism that extreme-freestyle imagery juxtaposed with kilt iamgery would not make much contextual sense, but I can see instances where it could happen, for instance, "COMAPRISON: How frilly do you like your skirts?". This hypothetical case could generate such a ju...
