Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Mrs C and I went to Torremolinos (Spain) in early February for a contra dancing in the sun event. Skirted all the way of course: knee length denim skirt on the budget cattle truck flight out and ankle length skirts in the hotel and for dancing. There were two reactions. We walked along the promenade...

Re: When you're asked why do you wear skirts?

I just say that I like wearing skirts and prefer them to trousers. Seems to satisfy the curious.

Bin man wears hi vis kilt

My wife pointed this out this morning. A bin collector was told he could not wear shorts due to risk of injury, so he got around York City Council's dress code by wearing a fluorescent hi-vis kilt. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11014017/Binman-wears-hi-vis-KILT-heat-bosses-banned-wearing-...

Re: Comfort levels

I can't help thinking of all these millions of men cooking in trousers, unaware of this alternative - I wonder if it even crosses their minds that they could dress like this. I used to cook as well until I tried on a sarong in 2002 and saw the light. In my neck of the woods here are still plenty of...

Re: Intellectual Takeout: When Men Say ‘Yes’ to the Dress

I would like to see the words masculine and feminine disappear from this website! Until that happens, and also happens in society, I will maintain my gender nonconforming label which simply means that I do not accept and conform to the masculine/feminine stereotypical dogma that have been establish...

Re: Wife took over one of my skirts

I bought a denim skirt off ebay and the wife liked it so much that I bought another one just for her. Then she went on a diet and lost a lot of weight. Now the skirt was too big for her, so she gave it to me. I now have a spare skirt and a slim wife. Definitely a win - win :D

I went there in 2019 and wore sarongs all the time with no adverse reactions. Just enjoyed the sun and the comfort :D

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

It was probably nitrous oxide - laughing gas. In Norwich in September I was returning to our hotel after a restaurant meal and was wearing a dress, as usual. We were passed by some young drunks. As they got well past, one of them turned and said to me ‘you’re wearing a dress’. Very brave of him to ...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Mrs C and I went clothes shopping in Clarks Village at Street today and, for the first time, I actually enjoyed it. After reading the Dressing for Hot Weather thread I thought it was time to get myself a dress (I'll admit to a sneaky try on of one or two of the wife's dresses, but none of the patter...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

The wife and I spent the weekend contra dancing at Halsway Manor in the UK. I wore skirts all the time of course, with nice colourful swirly ones for the evening dances when everyone dresses up a bit. There was a young guy there (early 20s) who was a bit shy to start with. He surprised us all by tur...

Re: Metro: Sean Penn is wrong – men who wear skirts are brave, not cowards

[...]My memories of the first few times will remain with me. Never felt anything like it before or since. Me too. I well remember working in a flat in Bristol and really, really wanting to wear a skirt for the 20 mile drive home. I stood behind the front door with lots of people walking past outsid...

So IF Scotland becomes independant and IF they re-join the EU, what will the land border look like? A big fence and check points?

Re: How long have you been at Skirt Cafe' ?

Interesting: in less than 30 days, I'll be a member of Skirt Cafe' for 18 years  Uncle Al Just looked up my profile and I'm the same vintage as you Auncle Al. And I'm eternally grateful to Tom for setting up the cafe. The stories and encouragement from other members has been invaluable. :D C...
