Re: Corona Virus

I, too, hope for successful recoveries. Because I now seem to have a dog involved in this fight; my lady-friend in Savannah has contracted the dratted thing again in spite of having had it once and being fully vaccinated -- and she's sick with it again. I'm beginning to wonder whether this is going ...

Re: For English Language Lovers

In the UK, I remember hearing "sodder" long ago (like, several decades), and probably from plumbers. But in electronics it seems to have been displaced entirely by solder. I don't think I've ever heard anyone speak of a soddering iron. https://www.circuitspecialists.com/blog/solder-not-sodder-the-s...

How are you feeling?
Indeed.

I hope you're on the mend and that your significant other is not too adversely affected.

Re: For English Language Lovers

The "l" is silent in "solder" so it only sounds like "sodder". The spelling is misleading. I have never heard the word spoken with the "l" pronounced.

Re: AP: Fendi leads Milan trends with feminine silhouettes for men

BTW what did you go for, shoe wise? I miss seeing your pics. I went for my black block heels. I took a shot or two of the rig because I was happy with it which I'll post once I get them out of the camera. It was a case of "all dressed up with nowhere to go" because yesterday was a holiday in additi...

Re: AP: Fendi leads Milan trends with feminine silhouettes for men

I love your optimism, but I'm trying to be realistic. I suspect we have more in common here than might be at first construed. I've been a hard-nosed realist for much of my life, and all that's managed to do has been to leave me a disillusioned wishful thinker hoping for a more verdant and softer wo...

How did the former UK colonies come to misspell so many words?
In at least one case, a deliberate dumbing-down of the language.

Re: AP: Fendi leads Milan trends with feminine silhouettes for men

I have seen, however, that even finding denim skirts without little girly touches like embroidered flowers or whatever can sometimes be a challenge. What's wrong with occasional touches of whimsy and lightness. I think the world needs more of that at the moment than it has in a very long time indee...

Re: For English Language Lovers

Why not? It keeps the illiterate confused.

Also, the plural of moose is "moose". Meese was a corrupt attorney General of the USA during the Reagan regime -- who even lowly folks like me could have afforded to bribe.

Re: AP: Fendi leads Milan trends with feminine silhouettes for men

If we're going to wait for the Fashion world (capital "F" there, mind) to produce workable looks and styles for men we're going to have a very long wait indeed -- probably about two or three typical lifetimes, unless something happens by accident. I don't see acceptance being driven by the Fashion w...

But why, given her apparent opposition/tolerance of my skirts, would she want to do this of her own suggestion and with no suggestion from me? I had not even seen the skirt before she mentioned it. I am confused.

Re: Thank You Corona Virus for a bit of humor

Twelve hit a nerve with me as well, save that it was me walking into a police station wearing a mask to pick up my firearms permit. Dang that was weird! (But everybody was pleasant -- congenial, even. I guess that even by then "mask madness" was starting to wear thin.)

Re: Corona Virus

It isn't going to end. The epidemic became a pandemic and the virus will now become endemic (lots of ..demics around). It will most likely become similar to the flu, regular outbreaks will occur and people will still die, but in lower numbers, as a yearly vaccine jab and better medication will redu...
