Re: Skirts, the wearing of.

What an absolute delight it was to read that! Yes, a mum doing her utmost" indeed. By the by, and for what it's worth, I was called "beautiful" again the other evening by a lovely 60-year-old lady whom I'm sort of interested in (and to think I was dressed entirely in black!) The world really isn't a...

It's an odd one, but then so am I 😁
Welcome to life in the Real World. It's vastly more complicated than we'd ever have thought it when we were in school! And it's wonderful all the same.

Re: Men in skirts around the world - Straw Poll

Well, on page 119 (or thereabouts) Fluegel damns every man who dares to don a skirt to a future of being homosexual: Eonism. — This last consideration has brought us to the phenomena of transvestitism, or Eonism, as Havelock Ellis has recently called it, after the Chevalier d’Eon de Beaumont [0], a ...

Re: My look - I hope it looks normal

We all want to look good and be accepted, Ideally I would like every contributor to the cafe to look exactly as we would like and for everyone to say "you guys are so cool" i'm getting a skirt today! You know what, that looks fine. No deltas and high marks. So what about a 57 year old visage. It's ...

Re: A plea for skirts as a degendering measure

1. New people find this cafe at different times and cannot/should not be expected to have read all previous posts. One of this site's strong points is the depth of knowledge and experience one will find and read about here if one takes the time and the interest to read back through some of the hist...

Re: Men in skirts around the world - Straw Poll

As I dig deeper into The Psychology of Clothing (I'm on page 101 now) it's becoming very, very clear that it's a work of its time (this is good and bad) and is not representative much of today's world. In short, the thing is dated -- still useful, but rather "stale" in modern context especially give...

Re: A plea for skirts as a degendering measure

To quote Confucius “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” I know it well, and related to it when, heavily laden with bags, stepped out of my house onto a patch of glare ice in the pre-dawn darkness on Christmas Day last year beginning a jaunt to Savannah, GA. To us, men wearing...

Hold on. I think it's worth it, even though the man was a psychoanalyst and some Freudian theories are considered outdated, especially by the standards of today's cognitive psychology. I hope you will be able to confirm his core statements to be valid. I'm about halfway through chapter IV, and disc...

Re: A plea for skirts as a degendering measure

The only thing that would change would be more men will be wearing skirts. And those who don't wear the prescribed lengths and colours will be still defined as deviants. Which is presumably what men wearing skirts now are labeled, no? When more men wear skirts, I see the “deviant” label lessening, ...

I'm with Jim in this matter. If I'm in a partnership, I'm in a partnership. Full stop.

This freaks modern women out.

Re: A plea for skirts as a degendering measure

I still just don’t see how more men wearing any skirt is anything other than a win for men’s fashion. Mens fashion remains stagnated if mainstream men never wear a skirt. If this happens, men won’t wear neither a drab nor colorful skirt. I've been working my way through The Psychology of Clothing w...

Re: A plea for skirts as a degendering measure

Think of "strait" as being in dire straits meaning with nowhere to turn and not the 80s rock band. Strait is a nautical term meaning narrow strip of water, so vessels with big turning circles were thus restricted or in dire straits. You beat me to the punch one that one, Steve. Bravo. I was going t...

Re: A plea for skirts as a degendering measure

Then it sounds like the past ten years have had an advancement of men in skirts. Granted the internet wasn’t a thing then, but I feel like dudes in skirts has been something chatted about in the early 2000s and now has somewhat increased in volume. There has been an advancement of sorts, but it has...
