Re: Corona Virus

Well, my old adopted hometown to the west has just returned to Mask Madness with mandates and whatnot. Fortunately, they don't seem to be taking it particularly seriously as I did not have mine with me at the time so could not don it and did not get hassled. However, I may decide to watch the situat...

Re: Corona Virus

I was told if I got the vaccine a mask is no longer required. Now I'm being told I have to wear one to protect the people who refuse to vaccinate. Nope. This sentiment seems to be gaining ground as the socially-responsible ones who "took one for the team", thus taking a risk themselves for the sake...

Re: Teenager wearing a dress harassed by inbred Tennessee hillbilly

This is the 21st century. We shouldn't be punishing children for the crimes of their parents. Why give the death penalty to the child of criminal? Should we be punishing the prospective parents via capital punishment, then? What does that do to the "unborn child"? Or do you wait until the baby is b...

Re: Pressing the "HOT" button

Drive around here, there are churches with front yards full of little crosses as a memorial to aborted fetuses, there are "pro-life" billboards and bumper stickers everywhere. That's a control ploy and nothing but. Inflame the sensibilities and folks will hand over not just their souls but their wa...

Re: Pressing the "HOT" button

Perhaps if it was classed as a power-grab over the lives of others opinions would shift a little bit. I make no bones about calling a fascist a fascist and am well known for making cracks about the American Taleban. The matter here is not about dignity and grace, it's completely about raw power and ...

Re: Pressing the "HOT" button

I'm only going to "scratch the surface" a bit (and keep in mind how glass is cut) and then go quiet for a bit. What we have here is the inherent conflict of emotion (belief) and rationality (thought) in action -- and it's fanned to an insane level by agitators who have axes to grind. Is one perfectl...

Re: Corona Virus

Here's one for Gusto. This morning some bonehead from an IP address in Russia tried spamming the form flogging Ivermectin as a cure for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It never appeared publicly, of course, the account immediately getting terminated, the post disapproved, and the incident reported to stopforu...

Re: Notre dame paris

Notre Dame de Paris has a long history, and at least one substantial "makeover" -- the addition of the central spire, which was not without controversy. Given that these are "living buildings", what's to say that a modern reinterpretation of the old wooden roof clad in lead might not be done? Contem...

Re: Work skirts

Savannah beckons. A little while doing nothing taxing and just enjoying different surroundings will send green shoots up through your mood in no time. Looking at what I can see of S. from photos it seems a perfect vacation destination.....warm too. I'm still trying to ascertain whether my hostess i...

Re: Presenting "as a woman"

I just don't understand, where did all the workers go? I mean, if these people aren't drawing a government check anymore then how are they putting food on the table? Am I missing something? Most everybody now has a "side hustle" going on, and is already likely working at least one if not two McJobs...

Re: Work skirts

So I imagine we have different "work", but even our leisure seems different in most regards. Though I have to admit, I'm always impressed when you manage a sailboat in one of your long flowy "rigs". But I'm not a sailor (I'm a mountain man) so perhaps it just don't understand the process. "Work" an...

Re: Work skirts

I guess I've just come to the point where skirts have become so second nature that I found I need to start defining my skirts, not allowing my skirts to define me. I believe what you're experiencing is a convergence onto your own personal style -- after having gone about it completely experimentall...

"Them" clearly refers to "thoughts" to completely justifiable. Still a double entendre though.
Well played, too!

Re: Teenager wearing a dress harassed by inbred Tennessee hillbilly

But surely this just means that a woman would just go to another state which does allow abortion. And the out of state agency can't be sued because the law banning is just for one state. We don't quite know what this means yet, and we don't know if the mere act of driving a woman across state lines...

Re: Highsnobiety: Men's Skirts Were the Real MVP at NYFW

I heard of a grocer who had a "grocer's apostrophe" on his pavement advertising. That anecdote may well have appeared in Lynn Truss' book as it sounds very familiar. I'm also drawn to a sign that hard adjacent to Massachusetts Route 9 West was a sign in the 2000s proclaiming, "Pant's Shortened $5.0...
