Re: What feminine items do you wear?

For all my feminine aspects I prefer to talk to my fellow men at church, even when I'm dressed en femme . I'll talk to anyone, but I am conscious of feeling vaguely uncomfortable in all-male environments. It first struck me at a get-together for ex-pupils of my (all-male) school. In an all-male env...

Re: Intimate Medical Issues

I once consulted a doctor for a small growth on my leg, and wore a kilt since it made access a lot easier. Of course, he didn't turn a hair.

Re: Sir Garyson Perry is "just a man who likes to wear dresses"

Yes, there is a lot of Grayson Perry on YouTube and it is interesting. One thing is, he uses "transvestite" to describe himself quite a bit.... I think the term is too much criticized, perhaps because of a connection with sexuality which is not always appropriate. While binary clothing st...

Re: The boundary between skirt wearer and TV

Hi, Long time lurker and skirt wearer, although not in public yet. trying to work up the courage. Just curious where the boundary comes between skirt wear and TV. Well, obviously I am a cripplingly old-fashioned person and a linguistic and conceptual reactionary, but I still think that this is not ...

Re: Pretty Skirts?

But if someone sincerely complimented something I wore as "pretty", I'd take it positively. I am really glad you said this, since one of the things that started this idea for a thread, was the tartan skirt you wore to the Skirt cafe meet in November. Thanks. It's from our local brand, Sup...

Re: Pretty Skirts?

It's blue, so obviously it's a boy's skirt. And you are wearing it like a man!

My own taste tends towards things that are "smart" or "elegant" rather than "pretty". But if someone sincerely complimented something I wore as "pretty", I'd take it positively.

Re: Don't worry, most people know we're not trans

For those members of this community who are interested in the ways that clothes can be adapted/designed across the male-female spectrum, I have found a set of four articles that explore the subject from an explicit "non-gendering" perspective: Thanks: that's really interesting. I am gener...

Re: International Men Can Wear Dresses Day

Unfortunately 15th May is our wedding anniversary and since my wife is "uncomfortable" with me wearing anything from the other aisle (despite her mostly wearing trousers and, as she's small, often "boy's" "leisure wear") I'm unlikely to be able to participate without c...

Re: Don't worry, most people know we're not trans

I generally identify as "male but nonconformist".

In the shifting quagmire of modern identity terms, I guess that you could say my gender identity is male, but my gender expression is non-binary.

Re: So my wife got me a handbag for Christmas….

I'm sort of introverted - which is why standing out from the crowd is the last thing I want. Yet at the same time, I don't like anything conventional, so am stuck really in a place that is never happy. I empathize. What I really want is for people to notice what I am wearing, briefly compliment it,...

Re: Streetwear Footwear

The trouble with dresses recommended for women with small boobs is that they are designed to flatter the bust, or disguise the absence of boobage. I want a dress that neither flatters nor disguises, but silently accommodates or even accentuates my lack of boobs. I have an Incerun dress (which I wore...

Re: "Kilts are ‘well and truly back’" - The Guardian

Kilts are certainly in favour in this household: my son wanted one for his 15th birthday. As they are very expensive, and he is still growing, I gave him my old Black Watch kilt, with a new sporran and some socks and garter flashes. He wore the whole kit today, with shorts underneath.

Today in the station car park, a guy wearing a fairly long, very shiny purple skirt (with white trainers). I managed to say "nice skirt!" while on my way past. (Back from a run, so in leggings not skirt myself.)

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

I had a formal college dinner on Friday, so I wore the kilt. (Lindsay masquerading as muted Stewart of Atholl, in an 18th-century style with box pleats, semidress sporran, dark red hose, Prince Charlie jacket.) Our new College President, who is a very distinguished Scot, made an approving comment wh...
