Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

This may be a silly question but aren't submarines either on the surface, in which case there should be someone up top on lookout, or deep enough not to impact with a surface vessel? Apart from getting entangled in a net and maybe dragging the boat under. Yes, fishing boats being dragged under by t...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

I know of one or two off the West coast of Scottishness.... Having grown up on the West Coast, there have always been stories, some will be untrue of course, but the MOD will only admit things when they get caught. Have a look here: https://britishseafishing.co.uk/submarine-and-trawler-collision-in...

Ah, you talking about top level cover-ups? Okay,
Lets not forget numerous disappearing fishing boats around the Clyde, only a few of which have ever been admitted to.

Re: What the word Hello means

Also interesting is the origins of Goodbye which comes from "God be with you". As I'm not religious I find it amusing when I say it out of learned habit, though mostly I use Cheers or sometimes Ciao.

Cheers....

Re: Another double standard

Is this not just a case of the retailer realising that women buy "men's" clothes and maximising their sales by providing a link?

If enough guys bought from the women's section, they would provide a link, but they don't, so they won't....

Re: Skirts on the F1 Grid?

I have pretty much driven automatics for the last 20 years. I saw the light commuting into Glasgow on the great M8 carpark, which can crawl for ten miles morning and night. I now get the train in, or go by motorcycle in the summer, but still drive an auto (Insignia Tourer) as I can't see any reason ...

Re: Skirts on the F1 Grid?

My automatic Mayfair was a three speed, it would kick down sometimes on its own and had to have the cables adjusted. Rose tinted specs says it was a great wee car, the reality is somewhat different, however reality can be overrated. Still got the Haynes manual for it too. To comment on Lewis and his...

Re: Skirts on the F1 Grid?

I had two minis, both 1000cc; one a Mayfair automatic and the other a plain mini. Both rusted badly, let water in through the windscreen, refused to start when I was late for work and need constant cajoling to keep going (adjust the brakes every week so you would have a chance of stopping). They wer...

Re: Halloween

No, not planning on anything. On Halloween night we are going to sort out some treats, put on an Adam and Eve costume relocate to our bedroom to watch tele and, with the house in virtual darkness, we shouldn't get any trick or treaters. Stupid convention/festival anyway, never been a fan of it. Be ...

Halloween

Anyone else planning on creating a costume for Halloween?

I am waiting on a couple of items dropping through the post to complete a Biker-witch outfit for a local night out.

I'll post a pic when ready.

Re: Breaking the Gender Binary with Rob Smith | Rob Smith | TEDxCMU

I wonder how this question would be answered in those societies in the world where clothing isn't seen as (or as so) gender specific? Are there any, though? I'm genuinely interested. I'm no expert, but Google says Myanmar has the unisex longyi for example, and similar in China. I wonder what the an...

Interestingly, I don't agree with either A or B, but don't really have an alternative position either other than "I do what I do".
