Re: Video games

Pokemon Go, one of the most popular mobile games in recent years has recently updated their avatar creator to get rid of gendered clothing, it was nice to finally wear skirts in the game without having to switch to a female body profile! I was so happy! Sadly this update sparked a huge player backla...

Re: Skirting when doing DIY projects

Great to see another person doing building work in a skirt. A few of us here have posted pics on the subject, Moonshadow, SkirtsDad, Kirbstone and myself to name a few. I have some pics in my photo thread https://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=257283#p257283 I do a lot of work outside tak...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

We took Sunday drive out to visit an indoor flea market and antique place an hour or so away. My wife wore a skirt and I wore a SportKilt hiking kilt (which is practically a skirt). Got compliments from a few different women working in the shops, which was nice. We picked up lunch there and while wa...

Re: Skirting when doing DIY projects

That's an awesome skirt, Mouse! I'm doing DIY and gardening daily and will wear a utility kilt or a skort with a resilient fabric, more or less the skirted equivalent of cargo shorts I suppose. Rugged fabric that's easy to wash and lots of pockets. No sense in getting too dressed up for dirty jobs. ...

Amen! Life is too short to let other people's opinions dictate how you live your life.

Re: Hypothethical Question

When I'm wearing a skirt, I am being gender conforming...I'm being a man and living how I want to live and not accepting a label that does not apply to me. Who knows how much time I have left on this miserable rock we live on, I'm certainly not waiting years for it to be "normal".

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Was working on my bicycle today, wearing a utility skirt...found out I needed a new part and didn't want to wait a few days to get it by mail so I drove into town to visit the local bike shop. The saleswoman remembered me from when we bought a bike a few months back and we went into the storage to v...

Re: Hypothethical Question

In my opinion, the moment we conflate skirts with gender, we've lost the average guy -- and that's where the target audience is. As I said, "lofty goals". Language is important. Yes! This is my issue with wearing skirts meaning I'm being "gender non-conformant". That just reinfo...

Re: Advice on kilts

Even though I’ve worn skirts before in public they have been hidden under a trench coat and I always wear black skirts, tops and leggings as my outfit so I’ll have to pluck the courage to wear my kilt which is bright greys. I’m just afraid I might get some negative comments but I know I’ll do it as...

Re: skirts for men

All we need to do is the accept the fact that we are gender non-conforming and where the feminine clothing (skirts, dresses, high heels, pantyhose, etc) that we want to wear. When people ask, I simply respond that I am gender non-conforming and tell them to google the term for a good definition. Th...

Re: The Macabi Skirt

On me, I am not sure how the length would be described: midi?; maxi? The Short/L Slim on me hits mid-calf when worn at the natural waist. Might be nice on a cool summer evening. Looks nice enough and maybe a bit less poofy around the hips than my usual knee-length ones. Not used to walking around i...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

So sorry you had a bad experience. I went on a larger family trip to WDW and wore kilts, exclusively all week. Yes they drew a lot of attention. As a matter of fact, almost every time I went through the park gates, I was “randomly selected for additional screening”. Maybe it was just one of those d...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Went to Disney for a few days, as we do periodically. I wore shorts part of the time and a kilt (nice tartan utility style) one evening, just my preference for this trip. Usually the kilt is a positive experience but this time I felt kind of negative about it. The park was less crowded so maybe I wa...

Re: The Macabi Skirt

With the original there is no problem with walking. Thanks for the info, one of the closeout colors is one of my favorites so I took advantage of the close out sale. I also hadn't realized the longer skirts come in 3 lengths (31", 34", 38") so I went with the shortest one which is pr...

Re: The Macabi Skirt

I have maybe 6 of the knee-length Macabi's and have been wearing them quite a lot as the weather gets warm. They dry fast and seem to wear very well over time, they look the same as new even after a few years. If I get them dirty from working outside I just toss them in the wash like anything else. ...
