Re: The Macabi Skirt

On me, I am not sure how the length would be described: midi?; maxi? The Short/L Slim on me hits mid-calf when worn at the natural waist. Might be nice on a cool summer evening. Looks nice enough and maybe a bit less poofy around the hips than my usual knee-length ones. Not used to walking around i...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

So sorry you had a bad experience. I went on a larger family trip to WDW and wore kilts, exclusively all week. Yes they drew a lot of attention. As a matter of fact, almost every time I went through the park gates, I was “randomly selected for additional screening”. Maybe it was just one of those d...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Went to Disney for a few days, as we do periodically. I wore shorts part of the time and a kilt (nice tartan utility style) one evening, just my preference for this trip. Usually the kilt is a positive experience but this time I felt kind of negative about it. The park was less crowded so maybe I wa...

Re: The Macabi Skirt

With the original there is no problem with walking. Thanks for the info, one of the closeout colors is one of my favorites so I took advantage of the close out sale. I also hadn't realized the longer skirts come in 3 lengths (31", 34", 38") so I went with the shortest one which is pr...

Re: The Macabi Skirt

I have maybe 6 of the knee-length Macabi's and have been wearing them quite a lot as the weather gets warm. They dry fast and seem to wear very well over time, they look the same as new even after a few years. If I get them dirty from working outside I just toss them in the wash like anything else. ...

Re: Pretty Skirts?

It's really difficult/uncomfortable for me to wear something with a pattern on it, which most "pretty" (or playful/fun) clothes seem to have. I completely realize this is due to conditioning, because give me a tartan kilt and I'm all over that and I'll wear it anywhere. I'll get over that,...

Your wife has good taste, I've had my eye on that tartan as well. I have two sport kilts and quite like them, especially with the slash pockets added.

Re: A beautiful skirt

I want to remain interesting, not be held back by having to be sensible......If I was sensible, I would still be in a pair of black jeans, maybe looking for a pipe and slippers.... Excellent way to put it! It reminds me of a recent thing where my wife and I were going to be at Disney at the same ti...

Re: bike riding

I should try that idea. I have a EZ-Sun bike that is a recumbent design. Legs are more forward than a standard road bike. I tried riding wearing a Utilikilt. The wind just pushed the material up to my hips. I have a Catrike 559, so that's my main issue as well. Much more difficult to manage the ski...

Re: bike riding

I found a rather ingenious little clip/strap device on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/PinceAntiVol that works quite nicely to secure the front of a skirt/kilt to a bike frame. They're a bit pricey but well made...would not be difficult to make yourself with a bit of elastic and a fabric clip. I'll b...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

We went to see Manatees at a state park, strolled the gardens at BOK tower (an amazing place!) Aha! You were in my neck of the woods. 8) I find that in any touristy area they're used to seeing all kinds of people and wearing something unusual is hardly worth noticing. Glad you had a good trip!

Men wearing skirts 2024, Good crazy or ok?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TITRmWOPbfQ This is a bit rambling but this guys attitude was pretty cool, I think. He sees men wearing skirts as an increasing trend and while he's not really sure about it for himself he still feels it is inevitable to be more common. A lot of the video is him talki...
