Re: Sightings "in the wild"

Meant to post that in the other thread, sorry about that. It was early and I was stuck at the laundromat without coffee. :(

Re: Ask AI

Reminds me of a running joke we have. When my daughter was young she thought A-1 steak sauce was "AL" steak sauce and we always joke about "passing the bottle of Al".

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

I had quite a nice day last.week, off to my usual spending a chunk of the day at the medical center. I was wearing one of my new skirts from India out for the first time. Reddish brown cotton, below knees, a bit of body to it. I had a shirt from Uniqlo with a Japanese artistic design that I felt wen...

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

It's a good example of the life of a MIS. The low level pressure of disapproving looks. I definitely feel the low level pressure of looks, as you so accurately describe it, but it's usually some mix of: confusion, novelty, curiosity or interest. Very rarely does it feel like flat out disapproval. O...

Re: Ask AI

In the current state of affairs, the term "gender neutral" is such a big misrepresentation. It almost universally means "clothes for women who want to dress like men."

That's a great idea, thanks! It would be nice to have it fit a little better. Most of my skirts or kilts are either a bit stretchy in the waist or adjustable in some way, so I haven't run into this issue often.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

The floatiness of skirts is the best part of wearing one. I don't get many complements, I'm starting to think my style is lacking.🤔 Thank you for your feedback! I'm sure most of us wish we got compliments regularly, I know I feel that way. I don't really have much of a style other than "swap b...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

I wore my indigo SeamsFriendly skirt out to the medical center and a few other places today, the one seen here: https://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22552&start=120#p276031 First time really wearing it around other people, and it's got a lot more structure/body than I'm used to in a ...

Re: How to normalise skirts for men: proactively reduce the barrier to entry

To normalize skirts for men... For a start, stop using the word skirt. The word 'kilt' is commonly accepted by most people to signify a skirt that it is socially acceptable for a man to wear. It's a thorny subject here, but you're not wrong! I don't have any qualms about calling a skirt a skirt, bu...

Re: How to normalise skirts for men: proactively reduce the barrier to entry

If you create demand, the barriers to entry will take care of themselves. Right now there's not a herd of men demanding skirts to be available to them.

Re: Slips

I have some plain cotton ones that do not seem stereotypically feminine. I also wear some of the regular kind that do not have any lace etc that are a good foundation under some types of skirts. It's probably worth noting as well that most women seem to have moved on from slips in favor of slip shor...

There but for the grace of the god of your choice, go you or I. Perhaps, in that very short time, I can think, maybe, just maybe, I presented him with hope. Very well said, Steve. This is one of the reasons I tend to push myself out in public on days I may not necessarily be "feeling it."...

Re: Custom skirts

So I got my order from SF a few days ago, I haven't been home to pick up the parcel until today. The order arrived within a few days of when they said it would, by US mail, and was nicely packed with a note and a sewn tote bag in the box that contained the skirts. Because my weight is fluctuating ri...

Re: Boy-Skirts for One, Boy-Skirts for All

I agree, Grok, it's a wrap with a belt/tie. Anthropologically it'd be a skirt or an apron. I wonder about the origins of calling it a kilt?
