Independent article on de-gendering fashion

This starts off being about a swimming costume, but then turns out to be a wider piece about de-gendering fashion and fashion freedom, subjects which will strike a chord with many people here I'm sure... https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/moana-bikini-ad-australia-male-model-jake-young-b2483775.ht...

Gender Neutral Fashion is failing skirt-wearing boys

It's good that this is in the mainstream media, but depressing that so little progress is being made. I would have loved to dress up when I was a little boy.

Re: Article in The Guardian by a man who wears skirts

That's a really good article, and helpful too. It still feels though like it's easier to wear one to a star-studded charity event than to the pub!

Re: Hello everyone

Hello everyone I'm a 38 yo who enjoys skirts of all types, my wife is suportive, our daughter (14) would probably not be so understanding lol. I only have worn them at home so far, but can't wait to go for a night time strool in the summer, I recently discovered an app called temu with some really ...

Re: Men In Skirts - TEDx talk

I loved this talk, it sums things up perfectly for me. I'm lucky, my wife is very accepting and will happily go out with me skirted (except not for seeing her family!). But I have thought about this and come to the conclusion that it's about others' judgement. If I go out skirted I'm well aware that...

Re: On family and spouses "negative" reactions, emotion

The other angle - still related to emotion - is the idea of the skirt as a "uniform". I can't quite lose the idea that the skirt must represent a "uniform of womanhood" to some people, and they see men wearing it as a threat to the status quo. I think these people are far and fe...

Modern Men Are Breaking Traditional Gender Norms

Nothing much new in this article, but it is a neat summing up of the impact and perception that MIS can elicit.

Re: Blending in

I share your despair! I think it's part of a general shift towards leisure wear. Here on the Continent you mostly only see leggings and tracksuit bottoms, plus some jeans. Skirts are for either a) older women who have always worn them and b) office attire. In that context my wife stands out for wear...

Nowadays this usually is media-speak for 'we found some negative comments on Twitter'. I imagine the vast majority of parents didn't even notice, or care.

Re: Books reviews: How Toxic Is Masculinity?

My time spent in academia taught me just how misandric and insane mainstream feminism has become. Please don't be under any illusions - radical feminists are no friends of the male of the species and that is why so many former radfems have come to eschew this cult. One of the ways that any emerging...

Re: Good day to you all

Predictably a quick pick up turned into a 15 min wait with people coming and going; no adverse reaction that I noticed and it didn’t feel daunting . Oddly enough the fear has increased since that initial plunge into the deep end - I’m sure I will get over it with practice. Welcome Dungo! Much...

Re: First steps in tights

I have some Glamory Men's tights which have a Y-front in them. Combined with a skirt worth buttons up the front, I could use the urinals just the same as if I was in regular jeans. I haven't though... I always use a cubicle because... I don't want the attention :?

Re: First steps in tights

You're right, there's no real logic here. I've noticed mens tights being sold as 'leggings' on some sites, presumably to get around the issue. Many sportsmen wear leggings (or tights) under shorts in winter. Then they call it a 'base layer'. You could ask what the minimum denier requirement is for y...
