Re: It's all about "sex"

Just a note. It wasn't only the Irish who were transported. Before they were sent to Australia plenty of English petty criminals were sent to the Americas as slaves. In addition many free people effectively sold themselves into slavery for the promise of passage to the new world. This was much the s...

Re: Update on my Wife

I can’t imagine how you feel or the stress you must be under. I can only offer my deepest sympathies and the hope she will recover. I often find myself wondering how you’re doing.
SINCERELY THINKING OF YOU!

In reply to your post you can sheet over the old ply with marine grade 3/8 screwed at 12 inch centres. Then lay a non permeable sheet glued before laying tiles on top. Remember that grouting will not be water proof and can crack so the membrane will protect the ply. Or you could just pot linoleum do...

Re: T.V. Icons

It seems the older you get the more this happens. It’s very disturbing when someone younger than you cashes in their chips. Also the first time a work colleague does so. Maybe it’s a bit morbid but “Momento Mori”🙁

I’m subscribing to Moon’s conspiracy theory about the plot to eliminate cash. I can’t resist a good conspiracy. Maybe it’s those evil Chinese people again stealing all the metal.

Re: Keeping the manhood from poking out

I remember the controversy some years ago when the sprinter Linford Christie wore tight Lycra (spandex) shorts. He had some very significant assets which attracted the attention of the ladies , mostly in a favourable way for him. My advice is don’t worry just be proud of what you’ve got. I’ve also h...

I have looked online as I would wear them in a flash. Unfortunately over here I can only find imports from US which makes them rather exp...

post_id=215423 Rekenlineaal kleinq.jpg During my study, calculators were also banned and the ownership of slide rules mandatory. It was part of the list of books you had to buy at the beginning of the study. We were probably studying at about the same time. I too have kept my old SR which looks ver...

Re: Stay in school kids....

It may be a bit cruel and politically incorrect but maybe that’s why these people are working in burger bars and as shop assistants and others are reading maths at university. It’s not new. Over 40 years ago I remember colleagues laughing when one went looking for a calculator to multiply a number b...

Re: Skirts worn with a corset

Corsets are definitely not for me. Like so many others I like the comfort of a skirt and corsets do not strike me as a comfortable thing to wear.
However corsets for men were quite popular in Victorian times. One of the most famous wearers being Otto Von Bismark

A big hello Andy from the frozen north of Lancashire and the Night Watch. It’s nice to have some young blood I myself have only been on board for 6 months or so but find the discussion lively and stimulating. Is that Holstein Pils you’re drinking, or are you just pleased to be here?

Re: The Other Side Of George Floyd

It seems to me that the various isms have a similarity to religion. The basic message is good , the problems occur when you introduce people into the equation. At an early age I was taught that the best form of government was a BENEVOLENT dictatorship. With the emphasis on that word. The original qu...

Does anyone else like wearing skirts awash with colour?

I just bought this beauty from Ebay:

I have very few patterned skirts, if you discount tartan, but I really like this one. It’s striking and looks like it will be extremely cool for the summer. In both senses of the word.

Re: Health Concerns & Costs

She says she hurts & needs help. I don't think she understands what has been going on with, and for, her. I think that’s an understandable side effect of where the illness struck her. The doctors must surely have come across a similar reaction before I think one of the hardest things for us is when...
