Re: Leggings

I don't see anything wrong with leggings or discussing leggings on this forum in the "Freestyle Fashions" section - and I think having the discussion of *what* to call clothes useful. I think everyone has personal opinions on leggings-as-pants and whether it signifies a deep failure in soc...

Re: Skirts in foreign lands

I will be in boring pants I think for most purposes trousers are the practical option and I never find them "boring". Skirts are nice for a change, especially if I am doing something sedate, like reading or gentle walking. In many instances pants are practical - but for a tourist trip I c...

Skirts in foreign lands

I'm going to be doing a bit of traveling in Italy this year, and while I will be in boring pants (as it is with family) I got to thinking - there hasn't been a big discussion of where MIS are accepted. Honestly, based on the variety of countries folks post from, and stuff I see on Reddit, the answer...

Re: GR10K ARC SKIRT

What are the zips each side for? They appear to go all the way up so you would have a front and back only connected at the waist. You can get a similarly look with a cargo skirt. The zips reveal a mesh side panel - though I don't know if it's ventilated or just a side gusset: https://gr10k.com/prod...

Variety: ‘Doctor Who’ Costume Designer on What Inspired Ncuti Gatwa’s Bold Look, From ’70s New York to Men in Skirts

https://variety.com/2024/artisans/global/doctor-who-ncuti-gatwa-skirts-costume-designer-1235988409/ In “The Church on Ruby Road,” we see the Doctor dancing in a club wearing a kilt. What inspired that look? This was on my initial mood board, I had kilts on there and men in skirts. Russell sort of sa...

This skirt was mentioned in a recent news article, tracked it down. Bit pricey.

Re: Overly Flamboyant Outfits Detrimental to Mainstreaming MIS?

I think some outfits tend to cross over into costume. ... I try to keep from looking like I'm dressed for Halloween or a convention or what have you, because I want my attire to look like reasonable normal clothing for a normal day (or the event in question). LOL - so there was this one time... May...

Yes, that's more or less what I mean.

However, as an advocate for fashion freedom - I won't stop or shame anyone who goes out in public in crocs, but I may silently judge .

Platform shoes - unisex

Ran across these on Amazon (note - I do not approve of crocs, LOL, j/k, sorta):

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CK29V65B/

Very interesting Amazon lists these as unisex - but they only go up to a men's size 9. Croc's lists these on their own website and provide both men's and women's sizes.

I think Stevie is suggesting the news articles - describing "regular blokes" - wearing skirted outfits - helps further the cause.

Re: chinese hanfu dress

I wouldn’t wear one of these. Like the kilt I would classify them as ‘costume’ and only for use in an appropriate situation. So should I refrain from making a hanfu skirt for me? I made my own kilts out of non tartan material which I feel free to wear without Scottish baggage. So I was thinking of ...

Re: Converse are making Knee boots again

I must have weird ankles or a weird leg shape, but every time I try on a pair of knee-high boots, I inevitably send them back as the boots never get narrow enough and the material flops and is all saggy. Please review these as they are curious (though I'll likely pass).

Re: Overly Flamboyant Outfits Detrimental to Mainstreaming MIS?

This post has been bugging me a bit. We want "fashion freedom" but at the same time there are imposed limits even on what we might want to wear (for the record, no, I'm not interested in sky-high heels :D). But even women have those limits. If a woman dresses a certain way - flamboyant in ...
