Re: Friendliness

I have been skirted or kilted on every outing (except one or two) since the beginning of this year. I struggle with self-confidence, but when I am wearing a skirt, I try to "own it". Wearing a skirt has done an amazing job building my self confidence! I only get the few odd looks and an occasional c...

Re: The end of August

Here in the Shenandoah Valley, September usually means cooler weather. Last year, the weather stayed above 90F until October 1. I am hoping for cooler weather this year. I am already planning my fall skirt outfits :D Last year I wore my kilts all winter. I just put on some tights or leggings and did...

Re: what styles do you guys recommend?

I will have to echo the Thrift Store idea. All but one of my skirts are from thrift stores. (In fact, most of my jeans and shorts are from thrift stores as well.) Now is a great time to shop in Thrift Stores. It seems that the CoronaVirus lock down here in the States allowed people time to clean out...

Re: How far we've come

Moon, I live a bit north of you in the Shenandoah Valley. Here too, it is very conservative. Although, with several universities and colleges in the area, it is becoming less conservative over time. I was shamed early on when I first wore my kilt out in public. Ironically enough, it was the church m...

Re: How old were you . . . . ?

I first tried on a skirt one summer when I was about 8 or 9 years old (sometime in the mid 1980's). We were doing some play-acting at a friends house, and I wanted to wear a skirt. I loved it! The feeling of that skirt on a warm summer day was amazing! However, once my parents found out what I had d...

Re: A Weight Off My Shoulders

I am happy for you Kieran. I hope someday to reveal my skirt wearing to my broader family (they currently still only tolerate my kilts!). You are an inspiration!

Re: Are you using the remain in place rule to your advantage?

Here in our Commonwealth, we are encouraged to wear a face mask when running errands. Since my family consumes a fair amount of food, I am grocery shopping at least once per week. I use the face mask suggestion to wear skirts in public. I know it sounds a bit odd, but I feel more comfortable in a sk...

Re: Why we wear skirts and how does it feel?

For me, it comes down to aesthetics and admiration. I have always admired someone dressed in a nice-fitting skirt, regardless of length. I purchased my first kilt in 2006 and have since added many more. I now own more skirts and kilts than pants (work uniforms excepted)! I like the way I look in a s...

Re: Do you have this stone washed denim kilt?

Yes, I have this kilt. Mine does not have the extra 5 buttons on the apron as the one in the link shows. It is of good quality. Although, I had to do some emergency stitching on the left pocket after a hike one fall afternoon. That was entirely my fault, and of no reflection on the overall quality o...

Re: What did you wear for Thanksgiving ?

I wore an orange and grey flannel shirt, a grey mock turtleneck, my tan Utilikilt, and brown shoes. Because it was cold here on the East Coast, I wore brown sweater rib tights. My grandfather gave me the greatest compliment by saying, "he looks like William Wallace!" :D

Greetings from the Shenandoah Valley!

Hello all! I live in the beautiful (but conservative) Shenandoah Valley. I have been wearing kilts out and about off and on since 2006 (I own 6 :D ). I have a strong desire to expand my wardrobe to include knee-length and maxi skirts (preferably in denim). I hope to find some good ideas and support!
