Re: A Special: Green, Uncle Al style!

So, "The Green Thing" is just a new name for an old concept. The youth of today don't really understand what their parents and grand-parents lived through. Some of the kids care, but most don't. It works both ways: the parents of today don't really understand the world of their kids. It's called a ...

Re: Up skirting in New York....

Nice. I was at an Escher exhibition in Genova that also had a mirrored floor (not as nice as this one though) and I never even thought of this issue. I don't remember a sign either.

Socialism: a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. Indeed. It would help if people actually used the correct definition of socialism. Not by any stretch ...

[And yes, I realize my citations above do not hold a consistent logic, but the same can be done with other data that does -- but it is more difficult to follow, while this shows the silliness of the contentions in the piece you've cited. Denial of climate change and blind support of the oil industr...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Maybe some folks are so distracted by the skirt that is all they really see and jump to conclusions? I think it's much simpler. We've all heard stories about Machine Learning algorithms producing mixups, recognising animals that aren't there or mixing up types of flowers. Even cats and dogs get mix...

Re: Skirts on the F1 Grid?

Hydrogen by electrolysis is very inefficient, Apparently you can get 80% and they are aiming at 85% , which is actually pretty good. Higher than I was expecting. Of course, the bad part if that burning hydrogen in an ICE is only 30% efficient and there's no hope of fixing that. Hydrogen ICE cars ar...

Re: Hello from a new member

W.r.t. buying in charity shops, I started by going in as soon as they had opened on a Monday or Tuesday which meant there were almost no customers. It takes a lot more balls to rifle through the skirts when there are two other ladies doing the same :)

Re: Custom skirts

My best bespoke skirts have come from CrossdresserNL who will do their thing to follow amateur-drawn designs and make sense out of them. Are they the site crossdresser.nl? Because I've seen them and dismissed them because they were all about costumes. I see they do custom stuff, but you're saying t...

Re: To the progressives here

Make me feel good about this: https://wcyb.com/news/nation-world/irs-monitoring-600-accounts-likely-to-snare-small-businesses-under-the-table-workers The question I have: what is "progressive" about this policy other than that it's proposed by Biden. Because AFAICT as a policy it's neither progress...

Re: Skirts on the F1 Grid?

A rough calculation shows that just to power the cars and vans in the UK would require a third as much electrical energy again as we use at present.  As for heavy transport, nobody's even considering that. That sounds about right. The estimate here is that to electrify everything will require aroun...

Mostly unvaccinated people from the Biblebelt. They don't want the vaccin, they don't trust the government I thought you were in the Netherlands, not the USA. What you describe sounds like what we have where I live. :( The north of the Netherlands is traditionally Protestant. The south is tradition...

What's wrong with feminine? For me, not so much. For my SO, yes. It's useful so I don't really care how it looks. I'm a function-over-form kind of person. Well, if the wife is complaining about it then I can certainly understand your comment. Perhaps you should ask her "what's wrong with feminine?"...

My SO gave me a handbag a couple of years ago. It's black square thing with a strap over the shoulder strap so doesn't appear feminine in any way. What's wrong with feminine? For me, not so much. For my SO, yes. It's useful so I don't really care how it looks. I'm a function-over-form kind of person.

Re: Here's to the "doers".

The concept of pay and value are interesting parameters. Pay as a 'value' to the business seems to be a concession of capitalism and 'bottom-line-thinking' that has led to a great deal of exploitation. I guess it depends on how you look at it. It's the people at the bottom level that are doing all ...

Re: Here's to the "doers".

I hope he received a promotion I hope not, this sounds like a guy who is in exactly the right place. I think he be paid appropriately. It's bad if the only way to get a pay rise is to move to doing something you're not good at. See also the Peter Principle. I'm actually happy that at my workplace w...
