Finding an El Kommando Kilt
Hello Guys, It’s been awhile since I’ve logged in. Nice to log in and look around. I have a question for you all: Do any of you know where I can find some of the El Kommando kilts? They were marketed by Mountain Hardwear, but discontinued. I’ve tried looking in Amazon and eBay too, but no luck. Any ...

Re: Hiking in a kilt
It was a great vacation, with som fun hikes in my kilts (the longest was in my UT Kilt, in which we hiked nearly 20 miles). I was really happy with the El Kommando kilt (Mountain Hardwear), it was very comfortable.

Re: Hiking in a kilt
Later today my wife and I will be heading to Yellowstone National Park for some back country hiking. Coming along is my new UT Kilt and my birthday acquisition, the new version Mountain Hardwear Elkommando Kilt. Can't wait! Hiking and mingling around always garners some interesting comments from oth...

Re: Tried my hand at dying
There're several ways to look at this "dying/dyeing" thing (to be honest, I wasn't sure what the right spelling was and I didn't take the time to look it up, but I knew "dying" wasn't right, but I thought it made for a catchy title): I was dying a 1,000 death, wondering if my fir...

Tried my hand at dying
The light gray cargo kilt I purchased a few years ago from one of those eBay sellers developed a mark in the color. It seemed that the manufacturer's dye ran. My wife suggested I try dying the kilt a darker color. I thought it turned out pretty good - from light gray to a slate blue. When I ironed i...

Re: In public
Last December, my wife and I attended a Solstice open house at the Native American art gallery located in Sioux Falls, SD (near where we live). I wore my Clark/clergy pattern kilt. I've worn a utility kilt on previous visits to the gallery, so the ladies who work there already know me to be a confid...

Buying your kilt website
I ran across a website recently from a hobby newspaper called Smoke & Fire News (reprinted from the December 2006 issue). The author of the article asked readers to check it out and critique it:

Re: Dress wearing for a tomboy!
"I think that some of this is a result of the misogynistic thinking that's been prevalent for so many decades. It's pushed the gals to dress (and act) more and more like guys, and that, in turn, has pushed the guys to try to hyper-masculinse with all the attendant problems that causes. Until th...

Re: Converting the masses and promoting understanding.
Well, obviously one's own skirted garment is the best conversation starter of all. The second best way to have a conversation is to start one, based on people's reactions to what you are wearing and your comfort level with it.

Re: Just For Fun: Why...?
By the time one factors in trans-oceanic slang, obsolete meanings, and other sources of amusement, it's possible to say something that is entirely and precisely factual and have it comprehensible to no-one; My Dad enjoyed repeating the sentence: "Once you were behind, before; now you are first...
