Re: Sizing

Hip to waist is significant. Juniors sizing has a smaller difference between hips and waist, potentially fitting men better. Also, be mindful of whether things are designed as high or low waist. The higher the waist, the smaller that waist will be in the same size from the same brand. But high and l...

Re: Style

I read a book a while back (suggested somewhere on this forum, I believe) called Dress Codes . Interesting read. It traced a history of primarily menswear, from the finery of the kings of old, to the old money New England prep schools of today. To sum up, the wealthy and powerful used to just show t...

Re: Fourteen Percent of Men Wear Nail Polish?

I'll disagree on the male nail polish not being necessary. While yes, the formula is the same, there is value in having male marketed items, and not just for the first timers. Male-marketed items not only make things more acceptable for newbies, significant others, and such, it generally also moves ...

Re: Indoctrination Changing Attitudes

If we think it shouldn't be a big deal, dads should just wear skirts around their sons (and daughters) from day one, without making a big deal of it. They will grow up seeing it as normal, at least until society starts telling them it's not. And the boys will likely ask to dress like their father.

Re: Skirtcraft sale

I bought one of their original version in this sale, having seen their stuff online for some time, but never purchased before. It just came in and I'm actually impressed. We'll see how it holds up, but the pockets are good, the fit is s good, the cut allows good movement...

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

This morning I saw a guy walking into the office in a tartan kilt. Tall socks or hose of some sort... And a rain jacket. That's all I got right then. It was a soaking rain this morning so I didn't get to see the rest of his outfit. Where I work, this felt huge. It's a large enough office and I'm new...

Re: I don't want to be labeled

All drugs have side effects. Some are only seen long term, like liver and kidney damage from excess use of certain over the counter drugs. The COVID shots caused all sorts of issues from reproductive problems to heart damage. Ritalin has been shown to stunt kids' growth by a full inch. And every dru...

Re: I don't want to be labeled

Whilst we are on the subject (and please forgive me if this is a point I have raised previously), I happen to think that there is a golden opportunity here to take gender out of situations wherever possible (particularly in the school environment). The school I attended encouraged the playing of mi...

Re: I don't want to be labeled

Look, I see the primary notion that biological reality is a thing and that is what should matter, as actually supporting the notion than men in skirts are just men in skirts, and that that should be fine. If people stopped and used the brains they were given, that is. In practice if someone views a ...

Re: American Neighbour

Some Native Americans actually prefer the term "Indian" or "American Indian" to "Native American." This leads to the need to clarify which "Indians" you are talking about here in the US, sometimes with turns of phrase like "India Indians" or "do...

And... Just like that, I found a discussion of this very "translation." Hate to break it to you all, but the consensus here is that what was quoted above is just plain wrong. https://hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/questions/8101/a-purported-hebrew-translation-of-deuteronomy-225-is-it-accur...

Re: Skirts, Pants, and Deuteronomy 22:5

Not quite the same as KJV. Profoundly different, in fact. Changes the entire meaning. That is entirely different. I'll need to dig into this more. I had previously read it might have implicit or explicit references to armor or stuffs of war in the original, but that translation is even more drastic...

And today of course is the "Feast of Steven," also well known from song, though some churches celebrate this on the 27th instead. If they do, they break the logic of the ecclesiastical calendar. St Stephen [sic] is remembered as the first Christian martyr and therefore is celebrated on th...
