Re: Hypothethical Question

It seems like a "When are you going to stop beating your wife" question which infers that you are beating your wife in the first place. Sorry to hear about that rotten statistic, Anthony, but I suspect it's on the rise in most countries where the populations are under rapidly increasing s...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

I recently attended a friend's wedding, dressed in a Mocker style Utilikilt (no cargo pockets), regular men's shirt and tie, vest, plain black long socks cuffed under my knees, and men's wing tip shoes. This was the second wedding in that family I had attended dressed like that, the prior was severa...

Re: Hypothethical Question

I am not "getting in touch with my feminine side" because I am a man and I don't have a feminine side. I disagree with this statement. Psychological research over the past 50 years has proven this to be incorrect. Men and women both have feminine and masculine sides. Women are taught to e...

Re: Hypothethical Question

That's precisely what it was -- and represents no measurable progress because aside from cut, men will still be shackled by the same boring colour-pallet and the same crappy fabrics they're confined to now. Here's the thing, Carl. I'm younger than you, so I don't remember the 70's. But in my short ...

Re: Skirts in Schools - No hope for boys

Well, if the various "administrations" would actually do their damned jobs and finally suppress bullying behaviours in the population of pupils there'd be a heck of a lot less trouble. It's been tried. Anti-bullying campaigns tend to backfire and make the problem worse. They may teach bul...

Re: Ballet Flats and Mary Janes Back on the Runway

No worries, Mouse. In some ways, I must have a half dozen wardrobes: Athletic gear Causal stuff (T-shirts, etc.) Work/slightly dressy stuff Special occasion stuff And within those there's stuff that doesn't go together, color palette wise (earth tones vs. grey, etc.). There's stuff I wouldn't wear t...

Re: Hypothethical Question

In my opinion, the moment we conflate skirts with gender, we've lost the average guy -- and that's where the target audience is. As I said, "lofty goals". Language is important. Yes! This is my issue with wearing skirts meaning I'm being "gender non-conformant". That just reinfo...

Re: Hypothethical Question

Sadly, for most guys at the moment, "style" is not very high on the hierarchy of needs. Most of us are worried about where our next meal is going to come from from and how we're going to pay the monthly rent. Guys are more likely to be the primary breadwinner, which means needing to hold ...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

The other day at Walmart, I had a woman walk up to me and say she wished more men would wear kilts! Then she complimented my outfit, and went her way. I was in a Utilikilt and a T-shirt with sandals and a zippered fleece jacket, nothing special really.

Re: Ballet Flats and Mary Janes Back on the Runway

I'm trying to not have two completely separate wardrobes. I don't quite get the point, all of my boots from my Uggs to my 10" heels are in one place and can be worn with any of my skirts? I can't/don't always wear skirts. Sometimes it's boring standard male attire. I've started trying to get c...

Re: A case of mistaken skirting - pays to read comments

I had a friend from church over the other day to help with some yardwork. He was carrying a small bag cross body bag. It was canvas in some military-like color either khaki or olive (I forget which), and had a more vertical orientation with one strap off the top and the other off the side. Near the ...

Re: Advice on kilts

For casual wear, I just cuff regular long socks below my knees (or no socks or no-show socks). I've gotten these in the past, though (like everything else) the price has gone up: https://sockdreams.com/collections/over-the-knee/products/otk-tube-socks https://sockdreams.com/collections/extraordinary...

Re: Ballet Flats and Mary Janes Back on the Runway

Mouse, I don't disagree that the high heeled boots are a powerful statement! Not quite sure what they are saying, but they do look fun! That said, most of the time I'm not looking to say anything quite that loudly with my shoes. I've taken to wearing loafers to the office (with trousers) in part bec...

Re: Ballet Flats and Mary Janes Back on the Runway

This is good news. If skirts for men are going to catch on, we need shoes for men to go with them. Most men's formal shoes are ugly, and better partly hidden under a trouser cuff... The shoes are typically clunky. And the more formal shoes-intended for suits, for example-are extremely limited in te...
