Re: First outing in a while

I don't see these options that you mention. It will only allow me to link to a photo on another site. The "Attachments" tab is on the composition page, not on the regular reading page. Select "Reply to" or the "quote-mark" button to access the composition page. I tried...

Re: First outing in a while

I don't know what you are doing , but posting a photo is very easy to do. 1. Go to the bottom of the message page and click on attachment tab. 2. Select add files 3. This will take you to a page where you can select the picture you want to post. Just select the picture and hit enter. 4. You then ge...

It would be great to see a photo sometime.
I'd like to post a photo, but it's kind of difficult on this forum.

First outing in a while

Two days ago I went out in a dress for the first time in several months. I wore a dress that I made. It's a long shirt dress. I really like 40s and 50s style dresses. This one had a turquoise and lime green floral print with shiny powder blue buttons. I went to a movie theater with some friends. I w...

Re: Edwardian skirt

I just wanted to tell you all about a project I'm working on and really excited about. I found a book in the internet archive. It was published in 1895. In it there's a pattern for a walking skirt. You're going to have a gem once that's done. I have a few "walking skirts" that I bought an...

Edwardian skirt

I just wanted to tell you all about a project I'm working on and really excited about. I found a book in the internet archive. It was published in 1895. In it there's a pattern for a walking skirt. It's mostly flat in the front and very full with lots of pleats in the back. I had to draft the patter...

Re: Skirts to dresses

I thought it seemed like our society was becoming more tolerant and accepting. I have never had a bad experience while skirted. I might get funny looks, but I can deal with that.

Re: Skirts to dresses

I'm no psychology major, most likely the jump from skirt to dress difficulty is because with a dress it is just you and the dress. You don't have a male shirt to hide behind. Hence why some of you feel comfortable covering the top half with a jacket. Dresses are made for womens proportions. So the ...

Re: Skirts to dresses

Sounds like a nice skirt, mercury. Got a picture of it for us? I'd wait a while before going out with the boyfriend in a dress if I were you. Let him get comfortable with the idea of being seen with you in a skirt first. Posting pictures on this forum seems a little complicated to me. It's funny yo...

Re: What is your favorite skirt for flying and why?

When I fly I prefer something loose and mid calf length. Circle skirts are my favorite.

Re: Skirts to dresses

Oldsalt, you're definitely more confident than I am right now. :) Right now I'm still working on my confidence in wearing a skirt, but I am better than I was. I was at Target today with my boyfriend. I was wearing a long brown tartan circle skirt. He told me that people were talking about me. I didn...

Re: (Good) Comments are king.

I don't get compliments often. I'm perfectly happy to go unnoticed. The most recent one I got occurred when I was leaving a book store. I was wearing a kilt, and a woman in her twenties saw me as I was walking past her. She got my attention and gave me a high five. I had such a big smile on my face....

Re: Skirts to dresses

Another roadblock is my wife. She is between tolerance and acceptance and in this bracket more to the tolerance side. I have no idea how to sell the wearing of dresses to my wife. To my feeling, it is 10 times more difficult to go from skirts to dresses than from kilts to skirts. I can relate. I ca...

Re: Skirts to dresses

I've been a dress wearer for almost as long as I've been wearing skirts. I have no major issues going out in a dress, at least no more so than I would over going out in a skirt for the most part. Consider this: Dresses, or dress like garments, really are the genesis of human clothing. The ancients ...

Re: Skirts to dresses

I bought a dress a while ago, must be at least three years ago now. It's basically a knee-length polo shirt in bright stripes. It hasn't seen the light of day, and Mrs SS doesn't know about it (AFAIK). It looks fine except that the shape is wrong. I wear a size 12 skirt. I guessed size 18 for my sh...
