Re: How do you respond to confrontation?

Thomas Jefferson: "...it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." I have been fortunate not to have had any negative encounters in six years of wearing skirts, but I would be inclined to offer a response cons...

Just received this ordered from Sierra.com (US chain, owned by TJX). It's a clearance item now. Don't know how long this link will be valid ... https://www.sierra.com/kyodan-outdoor-utility-drawstring-waist-dress-sleeveless~p~1hvrr/?filterString=womens-dresses-and-skirts~d~493%2F Advertised as 'drop...

Re: Soft fabrics and autism

You can do a Web search on 'sensory integration disorder' or 'sensory processing disorder' and find quite a few results. I believe the term was coined by an Occupational Therapist; it is not officially recognized by physicians or psychologists. I, however, am a psychologist, and exhibit the features...

Re: Discoveries when you started wearing skirts

I had quite a few trees on my property in Connecticut, which dropped lots of small branches on windy days. I did yard work in miniskirts (~38 - 40 cm) and was surprised to find that the modest way to pick up the deadfall was to place my right foot behind and to the left of my left foot, then bend th...

I remain a man; it's my skirts that are nonbinary. :)

Re: Ballet Flats

I have two pair of sandals and a pair of flats from the women's aisle. I love the lighter and less-bulky construction, and they actually fit me better at the heel, where men's loafers ride up and down. And as others said, dressy styles are available - men's dress shoes just don't complement the skir...

Re: What feminine items do you wear?

To my eyes, almost nothing I wear is 'feminine', although I shop both aisles. Most of my skirts are solid-color or simple patterns like stripes. I have two pairs of (flat) slide sandals and a pair of flats bought in women's sizes - I like the lighter construction, and the flats don't ride up and dow...

Re: First steps in tights

I prefer skirts no longer than just below the knee. For our former home, Connecticut, knee-high socks were warm enough on many winter days, but here in Minnesota, there are very few such days. Therefore, my first purchases of tights this winter - they are 'sweater knits' and comfortable down to -15C...

Re: Ladies' tops that are not feminine

I have very little chest hair, but I agree that low-cut necklines are for people with breasts. However, lots of crew-neck shirts are somewhat uncomfortable for me (it’s a sensory-defensiveness thing, I’m averse to touch around my Adam’s apple). I’m wearing a ladies’ ‘boat- (or bateau-) neck knit shi...
