Re: My Cornish World

.....and all that happened before SatNavs ! Tom I was once told that the Decca Navigator was a useful piece of equipment. The valves in the magic box warmed up and box could be used to dry the skipper's wet socks.... A tenth of a Decca lane was approx 60 feet. ...A day's run for a spider when the h...

Rod, At least at 200 feet altitude the tsunami won't get you! Down in Kerry we too are at 200 feet and our 180 deg. view is unparalleled. When I get out my flat-Earther binos I can see Boston clearly! 28Mi. East is Carrauntuohill, 3414 ft., our highest pimple and 18Mi West is the Bull Rock light, o...

We have two nodding donkeys in our front field, half-brothers a few months apart in age (7). They produce no oil or hydrocarbons, but lots of useable donkey manure and no doubt the methane to go with it.

Thank you Tom,unfortunately this is a system with no horse power...........Roderick

Re: Purbeck Revealed Ilay Cooper

I might as well tell the next story here as it is relevant to Ilay Coopers Life style at Swanage. His story Purbeck Revealed is a good example of Local History and his love of wild live and and venture. My next story is how the lads built a raft to sail on the Village Dew Pond Only sixteen feet deep...

Re: Purbeck Revealed Ilay Cooper

I am hoping this makes sense as I have been modded and cannot see my previous post. I first went sailing in Poole Harbour with my parents when I was three years old. The Poole Sharpie was owned by the wife of a retired Brigadier....The lady was my fathers boss. The boat was bought so that my father ...

Purbeck Revealed Ilay Cooper

Tom...Found this book 2005 in my library..must have been one of my purchases as my mother died in 2005 and I retired in 2006. Ilay Cooper would have been one of my contemporaries as he grew up in the same road as my grandfather lived in before he passed away in 1960...I managed to track down Ilay co...
