Re: mistaking skirts for kilts

I frequently get comments when I am out and about. I wear a black Utilikilt a lot which works with my uniform shirt. I have a lot of people, men and women, who say they like my kilt. I have had a lady I work with tell me she likes my skirt when I wear that kilt. I am fine with those comments either ...

I reached skirt nirvana

I have finally reached skirt nirvana. I have been wearing skirts in public for several years. I have very very rarely had any experience that approached negative. In fact in the last 7 years I may have heard 1 negative comment and that was from a homeless person that was a bit deranged. That being s...

Re: Lightheart Gear factory

I should have taken some pictures while I was there. It is not a huge place but plenty big for what they sew there. Their showroom area is small but they will bring anything out from the back that you want to try. Super nice people. You can see the factory area from the showroom. If you make it out ...

Lightheart Gear factory

I stopped by the Lightheart Gear factory near Asheville NC last week. I had purchased one of their hiking skirts that was a little too big for me and wanted to try on the next size down. It is a small company but they are very friendly and I was able to try on several skirts. I went there just to bu...

Re: Hiking Skirts - Who Wears What?

As far as the small pockets in denim skirts. I can see a little and it is extremely easy to make a new pocket cut the bottom and side out of the small pocket and see a new one in. That is the first thing I do when I buy a new skirt that has small pockets.

Re: Maker Skirt

Oh great thanks. I enjoyed the whole thread and the variety of skirts. After seeing these I think I will be looking more at the Duluth’s.

Re: Maker Skirt

Oh - and be sure to consider length - the short ones are OK, but won't offer a ton of leg protection. They seem to be designed to be worn at the belly button, but I tend to wear mine at the hips. It is listed at 20”. I measured the skirt I am using in the shop and it is 18 1/2” so 20” will be a bet...

Maker Skirt

I wear a skirt most of the time when I am doing woodwork. Will all the glue and dust and dirt sometimes I come close to ruining one of my skirts. I came across this maker skirt. I think I might try one. The price is a little high but I don’t care I think it will work great for me. https://tovewear.c...

Re: That Damn Denim

I have converted a couple of pair of Levi’s into skirts. I bought them new for that purpose. They are two of my nicer denim skirts. I remember wearing one of the them in a grocery store and two younger guys walked past me and one said to the other he didn’t realize Levi’s made kilts and he thought i...

Re: Real world shopping for skirts

I have tried on skirts in shops on several occasions. If I am in a big department store where dressing rooms are self service I generally pick out what I want to try and I go to the mens dressing room. In smaller stores I have gotten help from sales associates they are most always female and they ha...

Re: Is this a gender neutral skirt?

I thought it was short for me. I am pretty tall. 20” is about the cutoff except for skirts for walking. I wanted to try that one. My wife’s first reaction to it was too short for you. I guess she is right. It would still be great with leggings but I wanted something I could wear anytime. Also wanted...

Re: Is this a gender neutral skirt?

I got a 40% Cyber Monday code from Adidas. I am still on the fence on the length of their unisex skirt. Does anyone know the length of the medium. I could not find it on their site unless I overlooked it.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

I walk at least every other day on a local walking trail. I normally wear a black skort. I encounter a lot of people and occasionally run into someone I know. I have had zero negative reactions. Today my wife and I were walking and I noticed a guy up in front of us getting on a bike and he was weari...

Re: Is this a gender neutral skirt?

I sent a message to Adidas to see if this skirt will be available in the US. I figure showing some interest can’t hurt. If that were available here with easy returns I would definitely give it a try.

Re: Friendliness

I have noticed the same. When I am out skirted or kilted people seem to be nicer for the most part in my opinion. I always felt that but since the mask wearing started it even seems more so. Maybe I generally don’t have a pleasant look on my face and now that it’s covered people are more receptive o...
