Re: Jo Browns "Kilt inspired"

Wow! Lots there I’d love to wear. And I’d pay that price if I got to wear them regularly. But with drab blue working uniform and wifely opposition it would be a waste of money. :(

I would agree with the author, for the average Western male donning a skirt is a novelty. Trying on a garment that is fundamentally different from the usual male garb, with distinctly different physical sensations.
Ah, but what sensations! 😁👗

Re: LA Times article on men’s skirts

I live that he managed to avoid all the cliches we’ve been served up for so long. He just told us how he felt wearing a skirt. And how to overcome the fear. I know he’s not quite an ordinary guy - I’m guessing that writing for the LA Times is a fairly significant milestone - but his business is to s...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

A rather belated report on outings last week: I had to visit the hospital for some respiratory function tests[0]. To avoid a discussion, I set out in my plain black kilt, tights and ankle books, with t-shirt, sweater and rain jacket to account for various weather conditions. Having driven to the sta...

Enjoying nature

Some years ago, we had a blackbird in our garden that we nicknamed cheeky - he once came into our kitchen to catch the flying ants [0] that were emerging from a hole in the corner cupboard. After that, he would appear from time to time at the back door, presumably looking for food. I was reminded of...

Re: Boys skirting the issue

Side note, Marks and Spencer have skirts in the boy category of their uniform offer, "Naturally", all the models appear to be girls. Steve. I must have missed the skirts in the boys section. But I did notice that all the shoes are labelled “Kids”. Mind you, all but the Mary Janes, T-bar and ballet ...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

So I went out as before, skirt under kilt [0] and also a cheap plastic poncho to keep off the rain. I collected my bags and loaded the car. Once I was behind the wheel, off came the kilt and I set out to complete the deliveries. One "customer" asked where the kilt was. Since he couldn't see the skir...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

This morning I set out on my Saturday morning shopping expedition to Tesco with a bottle green corduroy skirt under my kilt. the latter came off in the car, and I enjoyed the trip skirted. Arriving back on the drive outside the house, I suddenly realised I was still skirted. I could have gone back i...

Re: Hello everyone

Having travelled the A1 many times in both directions between various homes in Northumberland and Scotland to visit family strung out between the Thames corridor and the Severn Bridge, I can confidently tell you that "The North" still appears on signs at least as far south as Grantham. In fact, it m...

Re: Boys skirting the issue

Out of curiosity, I checked out the Preston Lodge High School uniform code: Skirts, trouser or shorts (no mention of gender) There is also a Q&A section, which includes the statement that ties should be done up "at or just below the top button". The dress code is maintained by "encouragement and con...

Re: GQ - “It’s time to stop skirting the issue”

Unfortunately, Teo does not have the courage of his convictions. "If you do, then I will" just perpetuates the very prejudice he's complaining about. He needs to "man up" and show is a picture of him in a skirt; then we might see some changes.

Re: Boys skirting the issue

All of the above notwithstanding, it is encouraging to see our local Primary School (rebranded last year following a merger of the separate infant and primary schools) makes no mention of gender on the uniform list: School uniform should be labelled with your child’s name and consists of: Colour Gar...
