Re: Boys skirting the issue

Was I being obtuse? I think her "new policy" is just another fudge - virtue signalling about how progressive the school is when it is not really giving all students equality at all - it's just catering for trans girls. I perhaps should have asked her why she hadn't contacted the supplier and asked ...

Re: What are you afraid of

I remember hearing on a BBC nature programme some years ago that the UK has about 500 species of spider, yet only two have a bite that may trouble humans. Since we're on an island with an attenuated fauna, it must be worse where rode_kater lives :-(

Re: Online live meeting anyone?

I've successfully used Jitsi Meet (https://meet.jit.si or install the app). It's less tricky to use than Zoom (it seems to avoid the common Zoom problem of how to join a meeting); you don't get cut off after 40 minutes (as happens with the free version of Zoom); meetings are simple to set up and joi...

I gotta admit, they proved that communism can work... but at what cost? Only superficially is it Communism. It's a centralised dictatorship which combines state capitalism with all-encompassing repression. As to whether it works, consider the milllions who died during the establishment of the prese...

Re: For English Language Lovers

Hmm, well -- 'to complete' is descended from Latin and Greek words meaning to fill or fill up, and 'to finish' is from a Latin root meaning to end. So they are different expressions of the same kind of idea. This diversity makes English more colourful and makes poetry and song lyrics easier to write...

Welcome, cornish63, from Surrey. I'd say that your wife's efforts towards styling you, and then bragging about you to to her friends, are unmistakable signs of approval. There are quite a few Café patrons who would envy that level of acceptance and support.

There must be someone in York that does extruded ice cream but if there is I don't know where. If you think a 99 is chocolate or a Mr Whippy is ice cream, I respectfully direct you to Roberto's Authentic Italian Gelato at 3 Goodramgate in York. It is life-changing, and they win awards for it. And t...

Victor Vegas looks so much like a teenage schoolgirl in that picture that it's hard to imagine that he meets any resistance at all to his skirts.

Re: That rare male compliment

Out shopping this week in Dennis's home town (Sinned City?) with my wife and an adult daughter, somewhere near the Minster we had to squeeze together on the narrow pavement to allow a bunch of four boisterous-looking younger men to pass. Since I was in a knee-length hiking skirt, I was ready for som...

Re: LightHeart Gear skirt

That skirt looks good, and others that I keep seeing that are sold primarily in the US. I wish we had more suppliers in the UK.... I know you can order from overseas but I'm always nervous about whether things would actually arrive and what customs duties might be added. Does anyone know? I'd go fo...

Re: Dirty Work in a Skirt

The greatest advantage is the freedom of movement a skirt gives, I am used to working in a skirt and when I wear trousers for some reason I can feel the friction of the material binding on my knees and butt as I am climbing on the scaffold and excercising full articulation of the aging joints. I ca...

Nope, the "apparel judges" are alive and well in the twenty second century unfortunately.

All the more remarkable that it has occurred in what I would believe to be a very conservative country.
...and in an unshakably conservative paper, too. What surprised me even more was the almost unanimously welcoming tone of the comments underneath.

It's underwear designed for active lifestyles. Highly recommend, I have no chaffing issues when wearing them.
Ahem, chaffing != chafing -- though either may be uncomfortable ;-) However, you can at least do something about chafing....
