Re: The Importance of Punctuation
In my experience, the Oxford Comma is rarely seen in UK publications -- which is an odd thing if we invented it. I can't find my copy of Eats Shoots and Leaves, but G V Carey's authoritative Mind the Stop (1939, 1958) argues against it except in cases where there's a real risk of ambiguity, and Gowe...

Re: The Importance of Punctuation
Despite having spent some happy years in Oxford, I dislike the Oxford comma because it doesn't add to or clarify the meaning. It's just extra clutter.

Re: Incerun Dress
Interesting site. Never seen it before. If the size charts are accurate, it's actual American sizes. I'm assuming it's all shipped from Asia, though? Cheap cloth isn't surprising, but always something to watch out for. MB, is this the skirt you tried, by chance? https://www.incerunmen.com/collectio...

Re: New here
The Helikon Tex tactical skirts have slits in the back. The denim skirt is stretchy in addition to having a slit, making it very comfortable. They are somewhat short depending on your height at 18.5 inches for the 34 waist, but the cut is good for a guy. Unfortunately the only UK stockists I've fou...

Note that there is large Incerun store on aliexpress.com -- where very many items come postage-free. It may work out cheaper on small orders.moonshadow wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 2:58 amWhat witchcraft is this??![]()

Re: Exhibition at the V&A
I can't speak for the curators, and I have not yet ploughed through the very large book which accompanies the exhibition, Sounds as if I'd better stick with the V&A's previous excursion into this territory: the accompanying book was Men in Skirts, by Andrew Bolton (2003). At least it begins encoura...

Re: Hot weather kilt
I’ve been thinking about trying one of her products. Since you have both, do you prefer the skirt or the “kilt”, which is more like a pseudo wrap skirt than a kilt. I think my Lady may give me less grief for the “kilt”, although I think I would like the skirt better. My first order included the kil...

Was that prosecco or prosciutto? Half a bottle of either of them might give interesting results.Big and Bashful wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 7:22 am...that last test was after half a bottle of proscetto and apparently alcohol can give you a positive result.
Anyway, get well soon!

This may have been posted previously before my time as it's from 2020, but made an appearance while sifting through the BBC player earlier. Quite a good listen. Re: Sightings "in the wild"
" You do you ". For those of us on the other side of the ocean, could you parse that, please? Or deconstruct it? I have no idea what it means. A light interpretation might be, "Be yourself", or more intellectual, "To thine own self be true." Of course, due the the sometimes-slang user of "do" it co...

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
You know, there is a phrase that I've been hearing a lot lately, and surprisingly from people of a variety of liberal/conservative backgrounds.... That phrase is: " You do you ". For those of us on the other side of the ocean, could you parse that, please? Or deconstruct it? I have no idea what it ...

Re: Hot weather kilt
The fabrics offered change from time to time, and the ones I have are all a bit stretchy. The waistbands are very stretchy. However, the sizing seems to be somewhat variable. I have a kilt and two skirts, all nominally of the same waist size but with differing fit. The newest one is the tightest, an...
