Re: Harry Styles again
Though there is a lot of truth in the stereotyping described here, I think reality is more nuanced. If a woman dresses in a very masculine way most of the time she will probably be suspected of being gay - it is not true that there is zero criticism. Her masculinity will be more criticised by women ...

Guardian letters
Today (Sat 20 April) there is a letter (in a series of letters on male baldness) in the print Guardian from a Sam Heath "a now nearly completely hairless man with alopecia" who lists five advantages of this status, the last of which is "my legs look good in a dress". No explanati...

Re: The boundary between skirt wearer and TV
Agree that the term TV should be consigned to the dustbin. I wear a skirt as a man and also at times present fully a a woman in public, complete with make up, wig, voice and body language. Other times I just wear a skirt and everything else is male. For me there is no boundary between full cross dre...

Re: A case of mistaken skirting - pays to read comments
I confess I had never distinguished between ethics and morals on the basis that of you strive to the highest levels of both you can't go wrong. Interesting distinction. I find the Daily Fail a subject for amusement but it isn't really funny that so many people are influenced by this hysterical drive...

Re: would you wear these sci-fi unisex dresses?
Thanks - I had not known the origin of the pictures. I have seen the film but am not really a film buff - I prefer books. I can recall the film slightly but no the dresses - I probably thought of them as tunics. I recall some SF book mentioning kilts but can't recall this in The Time Machine even th...

Harry Styles again
Article about Harry Styles in today's Guardian. The online version is at https://amp.theguardian.com/music/2024/apr/06/this-is-our-shrine-why-harry-styles-fans-are-on-pilgrimage-to-a-viaduct It doesn't have the picture that is shown in the print edition of HS in a dress with a tutu skirt. It is the ...

Re: would you wear these sci-fi unisex dresses?
I see nothing sci-fi about these dresses. They seem perfectly ordinary summer dresses that look very comfortable in warm weather. I already have several like this including a coupe in linen.

Re: Doing away with "Embracing feminity"
I am one of a minority on this site who present as women occasionally as well as a man in a skirt/dress. At no point to identify as a woman and I do not feel I am embracing any femininity because I don't have any. I am acting. That's all. I share this exasperation with any adoption by men of anythin...

Re: MIni Dresses & Skirts for Men
My mother wore trousers in the 1940s, before I came along. She grew up in a religious community and got a lot of criticism but she refused to be intimidated. Despite this I never saw my mother in trousers until I was in my twenties. Selling skirts to men can be a success. Top Man sold sarongs some y...

Re: MIni Dresses & Skirts for Men
There is more than one country in the modern west. it has never been unconstitutional for women to wear trousers in the UK though I understand it was illegal for women to wear trousers in Paris until very recently, the same as adultery is apparently still illegal in New York - some laws are not enfo...

Re: MIni Dresses & Skirts for Men
Obviously the social side of skirt wearing has some way to go. I am old enough to remember when it was difficult to purchase skirts because you would rarely be able to try them on. That has changed beyond recognition in 30 years, I probably don't have another 30 to wait for it to become socially acc...

Re: MIni Dresses & Skirts for Men
I think we are looking for problems here. Going into a shop and buying a skirt or a dress and trying it on first is completely straightforward in the UK at least. I can't see how marketing to men as well as women will change this. Personally I think we are already where we want to be. Retailers reco...

Re: So my wife got me a handbag for Christmas….
I use a cheap black messenger bag when wearing a skirt and presenting male. Everything goes in there - nothing in pockets in any jacket or the skirt if it has pockets. When doing the whole presenting as woman everything has to be leather and matching (but not necessarily the same colour) - handbag, ...

Re: Sir Garyson Perry is "just a man who likes to wear dresses"
His audience were only interested in what he had to say on the subject, not in what clothes he wore. For what it's worth, Sir Claire/Grayson Perry wouldn't really be welcome here or would his other credentials compensate? Maybe that's for the mods, but you inspired it. I for one would welcome him. ...

Re: Skirts, Pants, and Deuteronomy 22:5
Any possibility that the people quoting the bible can give the actual quote. I had to Google Galatians 3.28 as I don't own a bible. For the record here it is - you don't hear the God Squad spouting this one, funnily enough: 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is ...
