Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl

Stevie/Mouse, how about being Governors in Secondary Schools? Isnt that where the help is needed more? No school governors in Scotland BM and I wouldn't go for it anyway. My reaction here was largely based on the comments about a kid making "demands". "Seeking permission" means ...

Re: Trousers, Women have more....

Are we men just boring, or do we just have no imagination? I was exercising that "imagination" at 5 years old, and look at the trouble it caused. Men aren't boring, but, even now, boys are not encouraged to explore life in the ways that girls are. Girls can be positively tomboyish, ever h...

Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl

All sources had consequences. Indeed they did Mouse, and well we knew at the most fundamental and instinctive levels. Effective, don't share, tell or even ask, and trust no one. Looking back, I didn't actually give a rat's ass about discrimination against "boykind", in my world I was a ma...

Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl

I am speaking for the seven or so year old me here, and maybe it is more representative than you may think. Yes, I should have been able to demand that I was addressed and treated as a girl. The sad bloody fact is that I was too scared to ask nicely and suffered the consequences. Where I am now is i...

Re: Doing away with "Embracing feminity"

When I was a boy back during the 1960s, I had already felt stultified/suffocated by the Man-Box. Grok, I knew I was stuck back then too and the box didn't even exist. To everyone else, the major difference for todays youth is information, we had very little, they have too much. Our commonality, is ...

Re: Doing away with "Embracing feminity"

The name Andrew has a Greek origin and means “manly” or “brave.” It dates back to ancient times and was popular among Greek-speaking people. Interestingly, it’s also believed that the name Andrew was used among the Scythians, a nomadic people who roamed the Eurasian steppe in ancient times1. The Eng...

Re: Do you wear pink tights with your kilt?

I wonder if the ‘pink tights’ thing was being pushed for a cheap headline? No, it is a fact that he wore tights. Pink is probably an accurate description because the dying technology of the day would never have come near realistic flesh tones. The whole thing was cynically choreographed to rub the ...

Re: Dr Who

There was an incarnation of the Doctor where he materialised buck naked. I think it may have been the 1999 movie, but not being a diehard fan, I could be wrong. Then we have the latest incarnation, Ncuti Gatwa, https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/doctor-who-actor-ncuti-gatwa-interview-wcm7d9xqp. The ...

Re: Kilts and Their Cousins

Oor Wee Laddie was prone to some exaggeration, with maybe a hint of rose tinted spectacles too. I'm 66 Damon and was never given a kilt, they were for the "posh" boys. At primary level we had no formal school uniform either, but a boy may as well have turned up in a pink tutu as a kilt. Th...

Ray,
That makes your wife a very special person indeed!
Try persuading her to visit the cafe.
Perhaps both of you might consider joining us in Newcastle in September too.

Re: Man in skirt wins Eurovision

Didn't see it and not heard the song.
However, The Eurovision Song Contest, was it the song, the costume, the act or simply not another country whose government has made them persona non-grata.
As for the binary/non etc etc, FFS let that go, it causes trouble and solves nothing for anyone.

Re: Men's? Unisex? Or Women's?

Skirts and dresses would be designated "women's", not for gender but size, IE not girls/childrenswear. The garment label only indicates size within the category, that bit is your own business. It will still be a long time before the retailers place skirts and dresses in the menswear catego...

Re: Hypothethical Question

The real issue is not what we are wearing but dealing with the prejudices of those nearest to us. If they are supportive then the battle is largely won. For me the next biggest battle ground is government and the media. They are never going to listen to me, so why should I worry? I just wish they w...
