Re: Trying on clothes in-store

Hi PartlyScot I got a pair of Colombia hike trousers from a local hiking shop in a ladies size. That was at the suggestion of the assistant too. In that instance there was only one changing space so gender was irrelevant. Interesting about the women jumping into the male space too. I wonder about a ...

Re: AP: Fendi leads Milan trends with feminine silhouettes for men

Hi Dust I do get where you are coming from with this but "reducing the shock value" alone will not drive acceptance, nor will it win hearts and minds. Female fashion is catwalk driven because the major retailers can have diluted versions in production almost as soon as the originals are back on thei...

Re: AP: Fendi leads Milan trends with feminine silhouettes for men

In fact there is nothing that cannot be worn. Whether on would choose to wear a catwalk creation piece is a wholly different matter. The high end designers aren't in the least bit interested in the proles, volume sales just isn't their forte. In their world if you take note of cost then you probably...

I like that one.

Re: Trying on clothes in-store

In the UK there was, (currently uncertain) an exception to sex discrimination rules regarding the use of male employees in female changing areas in shops gymnasia or swimming pools etc. That was on the grounds of "public decency". Don't shoot the messenger, I am only reporting. As a thought, I wonde...

Re: Another Daily Mail rant

Not sure what the P&J would make of Stevie though? Wow Bodycon the old Press and Journal really does reach parts that other papers cannot. For the uninitiated, the P&J was mythically famous for it's extremely parochial attitude. It is also the oldest daily newspaper in Scotland and one of the longe...

Re: Trying on clothes in-store

Hi Andy I am UK too. Unlike Rivegauche most of my clothes come from Next or Marks and Spencer as opposed to the independents. He is right that if you behave in a furtive manner then expect to be treated accordingly. Otherwise all the folks are really interested in is taking your cash and you are sor...

Re: Vogue: How Men’s Fashion Changed for the Better This Year

Hi Dennis, I rather wish that it was a personal interview but it is actually a "gig". How much interaction there will be is a bit of an unknown. By contrast to my "usual" situation, if I were to wear anything other than a skirt or dress there would be very interesting questions raised. Still have to...

Re: Skirt Wearing by Women Increasing?

In terms of what is available to buy, there are way more dresses than skirts on offer. I can't say I have made a study of it but on the Marks and Spencer site there are 900 dresses to 100 skirts and I'd guess others could be similar. On the coat dress combination, I invested in a long heavy coat thi...

Re: #7DaySkirtChallenge on Instagram

Hi Coder I rather like this lady's attitude and she also echoes the thread title, "challenge" "As a woman, I have the right to decide if I want to wear trousers without a second glance or judgement." Insert guy and skirt in place of woman and trousers then we have it, "Dare to be Different", as Carl...

Re: Harper’s BAZAAR Australia: The age of genderless dressing: A sixty-something football coach changes the dress code

Sadly, genderless dressing is a social construct out of the reach of the masses. JeffB dresses well, Coder too, and Alastair who used to post here, but you will find they are in well paying jobs. It requires capital for the clothes, then the thick skin to get out and wear them NTS "Gendered" clothi...

Re: Harper’s BAZAAR Australia: The age of genderless dressing: A sixty-something football coach changes the dress code

I say Mark never looks like he is in stuff from the local market some of the styles with high slits at the side aren't really me, and he wore some odd skirt / pants combo which threw me the other day (obviously modelling stuff), but his 15 mins of fame seem to be doing him well I do agree regarding...

Hi Freedom For All,
I come with no advice, just my very best wishes.
That and my utmost admiration for your courage in the face of such horror.
I have no idea how I'd have coped and only hope to never be tested.
My regards also to your wife and family.

How can it cost 388 when the garment is unfinished , there are threads hanging from the hem!
John
Hi John
That would be the avant garde design element to satisfy the demands of the rich folks wishing to emulate their legendary emperor's new ensemble.

Re: First steps in tights

My body temperature(legs) was near 40 degrees F instead of the 98.6 for a normal body temperature. The hikers among us may appreciate this, "wool saves, cotton kills". Your cotton denim jeans got wet and the cloth lost its insulating properties. I'm guessing you learnt your lesson which is all good...
