Re: Men's? Unisex? Or Women's?

Skirts and dresses would be designated "women's", not for gender but size, IE not girls/childrenswear. The garment label only indicates size within the category, that bit is your own business. It will still be a long time before the retailers place skirts and dresses in the menswear catego...

Re: Hypothethical Question

The real issue is not what we are wearing but dealing with the prejudices of those nearest to us. If they are supportive then the battle is largely won. For me the next biggest battle ground is government and the media. They are never going to listen to me, so why should I worry? I just wish they w...

Re: Hypothethical Question

None of these dress codes is ever a problem for me, since I don't have the money for any of these types of establishments. Like the other Marx chappie, I wouldn't belong to a club that would accept me as a member anyway. Fact is Mouse, if you had the money and connections, I'm pretty sure "exc...

Sorry Al, but I guess this excludes questions which may have to remain unasked.

Re: Hypothethical Question

I noticed that there seems to be interest in some sort of MIS skirt suit. Perhaps such a suit might be the next thing to gain traction? I have one, the "Skroot", it's on here https://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/download/file.php?id=14007&t=1. As for traction, I don't much care because it...

Re: Hypothethical Question

It's not the concept -- it's the usage. OK, Carl et al (Al too) A different and very real question. Is it really helpful or constructive to dismiss a term such as Gender Non Conforming as "crap"? Ref Uncle Al on 1st May in https://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24718&start=3...

Re: Escaping Slavery by Crossdressing

All men can escape slavery to the Man-Box by Just a small amendment Jamie. All men can escape slavery to the Man-Box by choosing not to enter it in the first place. Men just have to learn that it won't bring an end to the universe. Contrary to Mr Seamstress' assertions, in most situations, there wi...

Re: Skirts in Schools - No hope for boys

The schoolyard/playground operates on rules worse than the laws of the jungle. If a kid is not going to confirm, they will have to be fast or fisty, preferably both, to the nth degree. In this case, Carl and Jamie are both correct in many respects. The bullies will get you, and yes, I also speak fro...

Re: How I tried to copy a look....

Hi Mouse, Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Humans emulate each other all the time, no reason for it not to work across genders too. That is how fashions come and fashions go. I like the boots too, very glam rock and way beyond me nowadays. Oddly, a lady at work and I have the same Adidas...

Re: Sir Garyson Perry is "just a man who likes to wear dresses"

Thanks Mouse, 60 years + is the time I have been interested in skirts and dresses. I actually became an official old codger in March, Mr Sunak said so. I certainly can agree that being out, loud and proud is one of the best things I have ever done. Just a pity that it took so long. Ces la Vie. Steve.

Re: Sir Garyson Perry is "just a man who likes to wear dresses"

I'm looking forward to the our next meet up. We can can have a chat then. On this subject, it won't be a meet-up, more like a week long convention. If you reach a conclusion, frankly I'd be shocked, I don't believe there is one. The nomenclature isn't as important as societal attitude and norms. So...

Re: What are these knights wearing?

Oh, I think I have done a pretty good job at escaping the situation you describe. I have long hair, wear heels and bright colors in the form of dresses, along with makeup. And I have gotten virtually no pushback with my attire. So I think the inhibitions of men with wearing dresses and heels are la...

Re: What are these knights wearing?

Just remember guys, the knights were uber wealthy and most definitely not wearing skirts as we understand them today. Sure they had the colour and design available by by virtue of their wealth and power, but even they had limited limited freedoms over their clothing choices. Gender boundaries were s...

Re: Advice on kilts

Dr F, You live in Scotland, no? Can I make so bold as to enquire if you are Scots by birth? If so, I am rather baffled by these questions, sure ask away, but the answers are on your doorstep, not an internet forum such as this. As a grizzled old Scotsman, I have no time for all the damned nonsense t...
