Re: Latest acquisition
I have a kilt similar to that and have washed and washed it so many times and it still as stiff as cardboard, I do hope yours is better. After a second wash, the cloth is a little better, but I still fo not like the look o r feel of it. I cycled into town in it on Sunday, the market was very crowde...

Re: Do folks notice or not?
... stifled giggles from two teenage girls ... had they assumed I was a woman and then been shocked to realise their mistake? From the way they reacted, I suspect the latter. I would have said the opposite. Teenagers seem to have more firmly fixed ideas about people than their elders, and do not li...

Latest acquisition
My newest garment I have already spoken about in two different threads, but since the forum will not let me read anything more than a week old, I cannot find either of those threads to reopen (does anyone know why there is this limit, or how to get around it?) Two month s ago, some Pakistani utility...

Re: I wore an outright skirt to work today
I think your colleagues' finding themselves lost for words show clearly just how weird we really are, so far out from anyone,s imagination that they just do not know what to think of us and prefer to stay silent rather than to look rude or just stupid'. Sometimes I think I,d rather have a little int...

Re: Different reactions to kilt and skirt
I think there are three categories of men: Those that have never even thought of a skirt as an article of clothing, And those that would like to be free of constriction and seize any possible plausible occasion to get into a kilt (Scottish events, ceilidhs, games, where it is usual) plus those that ...

Re: Different reactions to kilt and skirts
"Swaying minds"? I can,t say I have had the opportuniTy to do that. In all the years I have worn kilts or skirts, I have never had the impression that anyone had the slightest inclination to follow my example. Indifference, yes; admiration, sometimes; "wow! Yes, that,ss the way to go!...

Re: I'm looking for...
I wanted to order from Unionkilts, finding their presentation very attractive, but found the delivery charges way beyond reasonable. At the time they proposed matching waistcoats with their kilts, but seem to have stopped offering them now. When I last looked, I could find no indication of P&P, ...

Re: I'm looking for...
I would like to be able to give a detailed answer to this, having ordered a plain kilt from Pakistan, which would correspond with your wishes, Bill, but unfortunately it still has not arrived two months after ordering. The pockets shown in the photos do not detract from the smooth outline (otherwise...

Re: Lucky find
Two months ago, I traveled to France in heavy winter wear and continued using thick woolen kilts through May -- especially when the communal heating was turned off. Now however temperatures have soared into the 30s and I have almost nothing light to wear. How glad I am to have gotten the 2€ denim sk...

Re: I did it, I did it!
At first I was concerned I might be assaulted or harassed, I never felt afraid of that, though I admit avoiding dark alleys at night! Did not actually get many compliments to tell thr truth :-( Although I have been quite happy in kilts or skirts for a long time now, I realized recently that it took...

Unexpected bagpipers
At the "marché aux puces" today, I had a nice surprise, hearing bagpipes in the distance, then seeing ten well dressed pipers marching round the market area. Grenoble is on the kilted map!

Re: You don't have to be female to be feminine
Excelent piece of writing.
Not that I think wearing a dress/skirt makes a man feminine.
What I did appreciate is that the writer, a man, has realized that there is nothing degrading about being a woman, and also just how difficult a woman,s life can be.

Re: Christian MEN Wearing Skirts
There would be no néed to mention religions hère (indeed, I did not do so, mentioning only ancient texts intérpreted as rules). However, so long as religious people trot out these texts to condemn our choice of clothing, I see no reason why we should not let it be known just what we think of their r...

Re: Christian MEN Wearing Skirts
It beats me completely that anyone today can be bothered with the musings of a bygone society that has so little resemblance with the modern western world, unless of course it is from an interest in anthropology. We laugh at our own parents' fashions, yet we should take seriously the admonitions of ...
