Re: Toxic masculinity out of style thanks to men in skirts
I fear this thread has more than run its course and the subject matter is disagreeable in the extreme. I personally have absolutely no time for the aggressors of this World, but they keep on being born and nurtured, alas, hence the crime rate. Skirt wearing by members of our male fraternity is about...

Re: First sign of Spring 2023
Hi Carl, While I remain (relatively) fit and active, Boston is at the very top of my 'to do' list, but any trip there will be dictated by my 'Old Collegians' rowers' participation in the Head of the Charles in October. Our next trip there will probably embrace the Schuylkill in Philly as well, as on...

Re: First sign of Spring 2023
Hi FiSD, We live low down in a boggy frost-pocket in Co. Kildare but enjoy several acres, about three of which are devoted by my Sasannach wife to her 'Olde Englishe Garden', subdivided into little enclaves labeled 'Rose Garden, Sundial Garden, Pinetum, Kitchen garden, Magic Wood' &c. and there is a...

Re: Toxic masculinity out of style thanks to men in skirts
Speaking of 'feminised men', this current whole business comes to the fore when a convicted rapist who since 'transitioned' and is now described as 'she' has collected another custodial conviction and has applied to enter a womens' prison. Rightly rejected and extremely inappropriate. As with the in...

First sign of Spring 2023
Hi Guys, I couldn't resist this. MOH was free of very young descendants for a few hours yesterday and she picked these in the garden. Currently our weather is very benign, frost free with Sun and double-digit Celsius temps in the afternoons. Great for dog-walking! We have a variety of daffs ranging ...

Re: Have you still got your first skirt?
I've endured masculinity for the last 80+ years and I find it not in the least toxic.

Re: Have you still got your first skirt?
No. I bought it in London some 36 years ago. Since then I have moved so many times that it disappeared somewhere along the line. I remember it was a demure length (21") A-line dark blue with a central box pleat in front with a red reveal, i.e. the material inside the pleat was contrasting red.

Re: kilt wearing
Yes, BM. In the dim light conditions the photographer had a very good camera to be able to use fast enough a shutter speed to 'freeze' the action just there. Being a rower I had two very different duckings in recent times: 1/ A collision in March on the river Corrib in Galway and our coxless IV tipp...

This pic. appeared in 'The Guardian' of a New Year's Day dip in Loch Lomond.
Alone among a group of unfit fatties, this lithe young blood penetrated cleanly wearing an elegant kilt. Good for him !

Re: How to trigger everyone at once
To accommodate visiting family we built our present abode large enough to allow this... 4500 sq. ft not including our habitable barn adjacent. History of Council planning rejections caused us to build the barn so we could occupy it if all planning applications failed. It provides a further 2100 sq. ...

Thank you, Ray. I'll put that on the back burner for now and PM you near the time, whenever that'll be. Yes, in the past I had a lot to do with that other Henley and held a membership of their Regatta Stewards for 19 years. Yonks ago while house-hunting over here we seriously considered a property i...

Ray, Lookng at Google maps, Son lives in Rowney Green, near Alvchurch and the pub in question must have been the Coach & Horses on Weatheroak hill, N. of the M42. Your invitation is one one cannot refuse. My problem with that is the steadfast refusal by the Authorities to drain the Irish Sea, which ...

Re: What floats your boat for hobbies ...
On my last visit to my elder son, who lives with his family in Worcestershire, S. of the M42, he took me on a country walk, destination: one fine pub we'd been to by car before. Could have done with one of your bikes, Ray. The distance to that pub was 5 MILES! A couple of pints later we were on our ...

Ah yes, Golf. I was brought up almost on a golf course. Both parents avid life-long devotees to the game. Dad was exceptional and played off scratch-1-2 for half a Century. Alas I failed to shine and as a student took up competitive rowing, which put paid to the golf. Had MOH and her family been gol...
