Re: Did we (men) force women to wear pants?

Awhile back a member stated that feminine clothing-except for a few business suits-are designed to show off a woman's sexuality Unless you happen to want to show off your sexuality, what are the alternatives? I am not sure if any clothing can show off a persons sexuality unless something is written...

There once was a colour named orange, ...Damnit. Because there is // as far as I know // no word in the English tongue // that rhymes with "orange". Well, there are place names and surnames though. There once was a colour named orange A man spotted on the mountain of Blorenge Said he, a dress I'd l...

Re: SOMETHING TO PONDER: George Carlin

Snopes credits the Paradox piece to Dr. Bob Moorehead, former pastor of Seattle’s Overlake Christian Church. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/the-paradox-of-our-time/ To me that makes it better, rather than worse. Thanks for posting that Jim. It makes more sense for a pastor to write "pray too sel...

Re: Skirt Wearing by Women Increasing?

Well, the last couple of weeks in the charity shop has probably seen more skirts sold than in the last year. I think it was six in total. Reading the fashion blogs then there seems to be a bit of a push on skirts for 2020 autumn/winter... mostly pvc mini (back to the 60s?) or maxi skirts. I certainl...

Re: Update on my Wife

:( :( :( :( My wife is developing signs of Dementia and Alzheimer's. She's under Hospice/Palliative Care now. This is NOT the way we planned our retirement. Uncle Al  :ugeek:  Sorry to hear that Al. I hope that she is comfortable there and you still get to enjoy each other's compa...

Re: Being Judged, Fired, for what you wear....

The world is very much moving on regards tattoos, and rightly so. I would say that there is little connotation of prison these days, which perhaps is a factor. An interesting point, I think, is that I probably know more women with large tattoos, and these are very visible, than I do men. None seems ...

Re: Being Judged, Fired, for what you wear....

I am truly ambivalent on this issue.........A teacher is in a unique position to influence those in his/her charge and should always bear this in mind. What does seeing a male teacher wearing a jacket and tie and letting female teachers wear floral dresses say to young children about society and ex...

Re: The end of August

Is your thermometer upside down there Kirbstone? Surely red = warm ;-) Well, still bare leg weather in Hampshire. Sunday I went round to a friend's and we sunned ourselves on her roof terrace. It's just the mornings that are a bit cool, I think it hit 7C a few days ago, but the days have been lovely...

Re: Queering the cishet

I avoid the term completely, simply because of the negative connotations. I was offended by it the first time I encountered it, and that alone says something as I am not all that easily offended. I probably felt not dissimilar when I first came across the term cis, however, if used appropriately, i...

Re: Queering the cishet

I hope this helps to clear up some confusion on terminology, it did for me :) Uncle Al  :ugeek:  Surely context is everything? What if cishet is used by an academic (and it does already appear in academic articles as does cisheteronormative')? It is also worth baring in mind that ...

Re: Has the attention on transgendered individuals helped us?

FtM crossdressing does exist, though much harder to find. I disagree by observation. Women often wear men's clothes... often times they are... actually their husbands/boyfriends clothes. This is, by definition, crossdressing, it just doesn't carry the social stigma that m2f crossdressing does. When...

Re: Can man look good in dress?

What answer do you want? The "caricature " that you posted appears to be at a carnival, or similar, and is most likely about raising funds in a light hearted manner. I don't believe it to be an attempt for a man to look like a woman, be a liberated man wearing a dress, or even someone trans going ab...

Re: Would you wear a MIS promoting tee shirt?

Well, I am informed by the apparent fashion police (having read a few magazines) that older people should not wear t-shirts with wording.... hmmm... whilst I don't see myself wearing one, I would certainly not, not wear one. If it can have an impact I am in favour.
