Completely normal and acceptable 40 years plus ago.

Re: Kilt of the Day-- St. Patty
A little late to the party. I completly forgot it was st. paddys day and dressed in all black yesterday - earned myself a nasty pinch from my wife I did. I better put some saving towards Ozkilts st. patricks kilt . I quite like the look of it. Seb, OzKilts are located around the border at the south...

Re: Moon and Liz visit Canada
Congrats on your first foray outside the USA. As for border customs, bio-security and immigration, you do get the odd one that's got out of bed on the wrong side, and will go through you and pick everything apart. I've been through the process more times than I can remember and in the (and I'm havin...

Re: New Technologies
It's happened :D Fiction in 1953 is fact in 2025 :D Yep. Sure has. My grandfather who worked as a telephone technician from the late 1920s in the then New Zealand post office and retired from there in the early 1970s was known to have said that one day we'll all be driving around with telephones in...

Re: Weather in your location ?
I think the biggest difference between our weather, Anthony is the humidity. Give me 40°C plus with humidity sub 10% any day over 31°C and 70% humidity. Hottest I can remember experiencing was about 47°C up near Mt Isa, QLD, humidity between 5 and 10%, like opening blow oven but you don't feel stick...
Re: My Health
Good luck with all of this, and hoping for you that the light at the end of that tunnel is getting close. I know all about lower back pain, as I've suffered from bouts of pretty bouts of pain that seems to come in waves lasting a few weeks at a time, it seems to be muscular, and it makes many activi...

Re: Weather in your location ?
Meanwhile in Australia, we're sweating, one day last week was 37°C, this week days of 36°C, 33°C followed by tomorrow's forecast 37°C, with overnight lows around 25°C. Pretty normal Aussie summer, with a few thunderstorms in the mix. Something would be seriously wrong if snow were to fall in QLD. Th...
Re: Accents
Being originally from New Zealand, and living in Australia for nearly 20 years, I know that my accent now is probably 98% Aussie... I even have both passports. New Zealand has accent differences depending on where you're from, for example in the southern parts of the South Island, they roll their Rs...

Re: Weather in your location ?
Temps here in Brisbane, Australia have been if anything slightly below average, it seems that December 28th is usually a fairly hot day, this year was forecast to be 37°, but the sea breeze came up and capped it at about 32°, but brought the humidity up to about 65%, it is definitely better than thi...

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Yesterday when I was doing my circuits to get by kilometres up on the bike I went past a group of 4 young people, as a guess, around 17 to 18 years old, 3 guys and one girl. One of the guys was wearing what was either a long sarong or an Aboriginal flag as a skirt that was down to about 6 inches abo...

All the best with this, hoping and praying for the best and that there's nothing serious going on. Stay positive.
Cancer is prevalent on my mother's side, regular screening is the key to catching it early.

Re: Happy Fall Season for Northern Hemisphere
Stick to flat whites; add Baileys instead if needed! Coffeeeeeee.... I usually consume about 5 or 6 cups of the stuff every day, I have a large plunger with its own hotpad heater on my desk at the office... Baileys, like it but it's very sweet. What I do like is a black coffee with a nip or two of ...

Re: Kilted Road Trip
We have covered the same territory, but all in an old Patrol with a small caravan and rarely saw another skirt, but at the Mona in Hobart you well might; and in your home town I know there is an occasional citing. I always expected to to see a MIS in Cairns, but I was probably too distracted by the...

Re: Happy Fall Season for Northern Hemisphere
Well...... As of this Saturday, 21 September you folks in the northern hemisphere are handing good ol'Sol back down to us Southern hemisphere folks to play with for the next 6 months, so, with a spring in our steps, we thank you that we can have another turn... And BTW, what on earth is a pumpkin la...
