Re: Interesting attire.

They are called Longyi. Here's a Burmese farmer wearing one: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/74/Longyi.jpg/640px-Longyi.jpg And here are Burmese government officials wearing them in a more formal setting: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4d/Burmese_SPDC_mem...

Re: Weather in NW Europe

We've had lots of snow here near London. Constant all day on Friday and again on Sunday. Temps not getting above freezing during the days.

Re: A waste of time

Wear what you want. If you want to wear a skirt, do it. If you want to wear trousers, do it. If you want to wear both, do it. Don't let anyone tell you what to wear. There's no difference in my mind between "men should not wear trousers ("pants") with skirts" and "men should...

Re: Men Wearing Nail Polish

For what it's worth, I did once play with a flamenco guitarist who bought false nails to play with!
I tried them once but they didn't feel right. I'm sure once you get used to them they feel fine though, much like those finger-picks steel stringers and banjo players use.

Re: Men Wearing Nail Polish

as I bent the string under the one above it, I watched a chip of polish break off and go flying. You bent the string that far without breaking the string? I think I misunderstood, because that sounds like a hell of a way to bend one string! What might also make a difference is that I play nylon str...

Re: Men Wearing Nail Polish

I grow my nails long for playing guitar and other stringed instruments. I prefer to use my fingers to using a plectrum. I grow my nails on my right hand and keep them short on my left. I also enjoy painting my nails sometimes, but with the playing, it rarely stays on for long! I have found that usin...

Re: irish kilts, any difference?

I'm no expert, but I think Irish ones tend to be whole colours rather than tartans?

Re: New MARMOT Skirt

Looking good!

Personally I'm not bothered about people showing faces on here, but if you could make the picture bigger it'd be easier to see.

Re: sneaking skirts like the dhoti into my boring outfit

There is a thread here which has lots of links to skirts and similar un-bifurbricated garments:

http://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/viewtop ... f=2&t=8535

It's 9 pages long though so may take some time to work through them all. Hope that is of some help.

Re: Came across this whilst looking for something else

Let's hope not! Skirts are superfluous when you were pants and vice versa. Long live men skirts. Pants should be banned from men's wardrobes, unless it is freezing cold. Jan. Personally, I don't have anything against trousers... what I want is CHOICE! The choice to wear skirts or trousers. At the m...

Re: A friend was rejected :(

Thanks for the extra info. I apologise if my original post came across as in bad tone, as this was not my intention. I had also at that point only heard my friend's side of the story. Now I have heard more. :)

Re: For all Piano Officianados

An impressive lot of instruments in your site. Have you built any bowed instruments, dobros or lap steels? I'm impressed that a real live luthier has graced our forum, probably my fault in not investigating the personal details earlier. I have built some bowed instruments. I built a few medieval fi...

A friend was rejected :(

I recommended this forum to a friend of mine who is a regular skirt wearer. Unfortunately he's e-mailed me saying that his membership application was rejected because he described his look as 'gender fluid'. I've only seen what he has told me, but this seems very unfortunate if the mods here have su...
