Re: Article about boys wearing skirts as a protest in Quebec school

You would have to go back quite a few centuries for that to be accurate. Women were painting pictures and composing symphonies as far back as the late 18th century and some examples still exist. The fact that women were accomplishing major things as far back as the 18th century doesn't mean that my...

Re: Article about boys wearing skirts as a protest in Quebec school

I didn't say that women hadn't contributed to science - of course they have. Some women have been very talented scientists, artists and so on. In my own field of research, I have the greatest respect for some female scholars. But the hard reality is that they are massively outnumbered by men in the...

Re: Article about boys wearing skirts as a protest in Quebec school

As far as Einstein goes, there's been a strong case made that perhaps Albert's greatest achievements were actually the result of his first wife's work and thinking.
I'm curious to know more about this. Do you know where I can read more about this?

Thanks for your reply to Stu.

Re: Harry Styles wearing skirts and dresses

I particularly find this quote in the Vogue article https://www.vogue.com/article/harry-styles-cover-december-2020 interesting. “And he’s a big inspiration to a younger generation—about how you can be in a totally free playground when you feel comfortable. I think that he’s a revolutionary.” This is...

Re: Article about boys wearing skirts as a protest in Quebec school

Stu, you ask, "Can anyone explain to me how the uniform at this school is either sexist or sexualises students? It just looks like a pretty standard school uniform to me." From the follow-up article, it says: The suppression of women’s clothing perpetuates the act of victim-blaming, reaffirming the ...

Article about boys wearing skirts as a protest in Quebec school

Ran into this article about boys wearing skirts at a school in Quebec as a protest. It is in part a protest against the labeling of a man who wear skirts as somehow not a "real man".

Re: Wendy Williams backlash over "men in skirts and heels"

An article on nbcnews.com on her comments indicates that her comment on skirts and heels was probably meant as a dig at Billy Porter for wearing them at the Academy Awards. Not that that justifies it, but it explains why she would have singled out gay men for wearing them. It would be nice if her co...

Mum lets son wear dress to her wedding

The article can be found here https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/13/mum-lets-son-wear-dress-to-her-wedding-so-he-always-feels-free-to-do-what-he-wants-10561863/ . I really like her attitude. Re: Sightings "in the wild"

At the Stop and Shop in Vineyard Haven on Martha's Vineyard, I saw a man wearing a leopard skin dress. He may have been trans; I don't know, but he was obviously a man. I was wearing a skirt. We looked at each other but didn't speak. Later that day I was at an outdoor Shakespeare performance in a na...

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

I was at the Newport jazz festival Friday with two friends. They say that they saw two men wearing skirts (other than me). I did not see them but I have no reason to doubt my friends.

High school allows boys to wear skirts to class - taipei

See this article: http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/front/archives/2019/07/23/2003719143 Doesn't seem to be about transgender kids. From the article: The changes came two months after the school held a week-long student-initiated “men wearing skirts” activity aimed at breaking gender stereotypes and h...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

The only problem you might have is that it can be quite cold in October in NY. Last year in late September, I think, I was in NY for a weekend. The first night was particularly cold and windy. At first I wore some pants, and I was freezing. Luckily, I had brought my fleece skirt from mouseworks, whi...

Re: A Skirt Is The Way To Go For Men & Women

I have bought two skorts to play tennis in. I had been wearing a couple of skirts when playing tennis, but they were not ideal. The skorts I got had good pockets for that purpose. In one pocket, I can keep a tennis ball or two. In the other, I keep a tissue. They are also lighter weight than the ski...

Thanks for the swim skirt idea, but they are much too short and lack pockets. The skorts I found work well after removing the shorts in them.

Re: A Skirt Is The Way To Go For Men & Women

It's been a long time since I asked about skorts, but since then I did some research and bought a couple. I have looked for skorts that have a panty brief in them but have found none. I spoke to a woman I know who claimed that they stopped making them. I'm not sure if she was certain about this, but...
