Re: let's list why we like skirts

Stu, you are becoming really tiresome. Sexual dimorphism is an artificial concept taught to children to simplify a complex subject -- which you do not seem to be capable of understanding or even acknowledging.  Please do not keep referring to it as if it were a biological fact; it is not. It is a b...

Re: let's list why we like skirts

Sexual dimorphism is the physiological, biological, and chemical differences in the sexes of the same species. It's very much isn't an artificial concept, as various organisms require this distinction in order for them to reproduce. This subject has been argued to death and it keeps coming back. Se...

Re: let's list why we like skirts

What I don't buy into is the idea that someone can just decide they wish to opt-out of the sexual dimorphism by which nature divides all mammals like us into male and female. Stu, you are becoming really tiresome. Sexual dimorphism is an artificial concept taught to children to simplify a complex s...

Re: let's list why we like skirts

I think we need to be careful that by deprecating the irritating behaviour of repeatedly pushing one point we don't suppress the expression of that point when it is the honest response of some members.  I don't want to read 25 posts about about your ingrowing toenails but that does not mean that any...

Re: Subscription services irony

You can still buy paper maps-maybe those will survive as a niche product? It took me quite a while to find anywhere that would sell me a new road atlas, in these days of satnav, but I did eventually find one. There were many excellent road maps on sale until a few years ago -- but one notoriously b...

Re: Interesting old (oct 2020) Mumsnet forum, mainly about Mark Bryan

This forum is about men wearing skirts - not about enforcing reasons why they might or might not want to. Which is why Al told Jamie to knock it off, because most forum members just want to see skirts in the men's section, not look like women. Just because there are more members who wear skirts for...

Re: Interesting old (oct 2020) Mumsnet forum, mainly about Mark Bryan

... WE ARE NOT TRYING TO LOOK FEMININE There are many different reasons why men might want to wear a skirt and, for some men, looking feminine is one of them.  That doesn't say anything about the rest. This forum is about men wearing skirts - not about enforcing reasons why they might or might not ...

As far as duct tapes goes, I suspect that's Urban Legend. There are better ways to conceal things. Contemplate the removal thereof later in the evening.
Does the 'thereof' refer to the duct tape or to the things?  If the latter, please do not give details.

Re: Cash or plastic?

During to pandemic a person could not give away cash, it was card only. The first day of lockdown I devised a simple method of handling cash without risk of transmitting infection. I put my cash in a small wide-mouthed plastic jar and about one-third filled it with isopropanol (industrial alcohol)....

Re: Subscription services irony

Just to add to the fun: Lithium batteries mustn't be charged at low temperatures.  A vanliife forum is now reporting that people are having to buy batteries with built-in electric heaters -- and some are buying diesel heaters to keep the batteries warm.

Re: Subscription services irony

It amuses me that owners of electric cars are so pleased about the lower fuel bills. If you remove the tax from petrol and diesel, they are far cheaper than electricity. Wait until the government finds it is losing fuel revenue and starts looking for a way to recover it by taxing electricity or vehi...

Re: Gender Neutral Fashion is failing skirt-wearing boys

This business of "you are not female/non-binary because I say you are not" has to stop. It is nasty, it is prejudiced, it is arrogant, and it is intolerance writ large. Such intolerance has no place in society, let alone this forum. I agree 100%, it is an unnecessary artificial distinctio...

Re: Cash or plastic?

Here in Oz, if you use cash, be careful because most shop assistants have a great deal of difficulty working out the change! There are a couple of ways of handling cash, which don't seem to be taught nowadays: Place the customer's payment where it can be seen, then there can be no dispute about whi...
