... for the majority of men - my guess is they don't want to be mistaken for women
If men and women (and anyone else) were all treated equally, it wouldn't matter.  The problems are coming from categorising people and then treating them differently according to the category they appear to fit.

20C = Beautiful
10C = Bearable
 0C = B.....

It's not what you've got, it's how you behave that matters.

Re: East coast fuel shortage

So we dig out coal which is mainly carbon so we can put in its place dead trees which have a high proportion of carbon. You've got that back-to-front.  We have already dug out the coal and burnt it, which is partly why there is too much CO2 in the atmosphere.  By burying dead trees or charcoal in t...

Re: East coast fuel shortage

Carbon capture seems to be the modern equivalent of the perpetual motion machine. I think it will be hard to come up with a system of carbon capture better than photosynthesis. Photosynthesis works well. It's had the longest development time and is the most widespread -- but -- the resulting produc...

Re: East coast fuel shortage

BBC Radio 4 had a long article in a science programme about a 'carbon capture' exhibition in the Science Museum in London.  Great detail about how much oil it generated (not much), about a crowd of protestors making a fuss because the research was being done by an oil company, even about the size of...

...In our store we put down direction arrows to form some sort of "traffic" flow but few follow them.
In one supermarket near me they put down arrows in two adjacent aisles both pointing the same way, with no return path.  I don't suppose anyone noticed.

Re: How far we've come

When you just wear a skirt as a male it is entertaining to see people struggling over whether to call you sir or madam - I never use the terms anyway and don't see why others seem to need them, I totally agree - and it is just as much fun when I am attempting to present as female but haven't quite ...
