Re: Having problem to get out in public

When I first went kilted I went to Irish restaurants. Then it was around the house doing yardwork. Somewhere someone wrote to go places where no one knows you first. As you get more comfortable in one whatever anxieties you may have will work themselves out. With as comfortable as the kilts are driv...

Re: Hiking in a kilt

I have been hiking both on wooded trails and on some moderately difficult roots and rocks trails. This year I have finally got to wear kilts hiking. So much more freedom of movement. It is better to have the length at the top of the knee as the ventilation is better and there is no chafing to conten...

A Start to Kilts / Skirts

For those cruisers or newbees, one approach is to simply buy a towel wrap. You can adjust it to the height (roll up at the waist) - at - just above - or below the knee - if you're looking to see and feel what a kilt would be like. If you want something toga like you can adjust the height on just one...

Re: fairly full denim skirt

Length is a matter of personal preference. I've often wondered why women simply don't let the weather dtermine the length of the skirt / dress they wear. In addition to what could be considered good taste. In the end it has to be comfortable and you can't be self conscious wearing it. I can remember...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Had to go to the grocery store for some milk. In Pennsylvania you can buy milk at a convenience store but it can cost more than a dollar more. While I'm getting the milk there is a lady with a young boy in one of those push around grocery toy carts. She happens to remark, correctly, about my digital...

More people noticed than you may realize. Not everyone will comment or smile. Some may simply look away.

Re: Skirts should be a normal choice for men & women

The longer, below knee shorts started with the Michigan Fab Five in the late 80's. I always lked my shorts above the knee. Although I wouldn't wear a kilt as short as those old shorts, I think clothes should be more seasonal for men and women. Length should be a matter individual appearance. Some me...

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

That's correct, I was addressing "skirts - longer or shorter than a traditional kilt" not kilts. I happen to be a kilt wearer of non kilt wearing heritage.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

Let's be realistic folks. You have a better chance getting more men to wear Kilts or Utilkilts than you do skirts. Unless there is some major change in society. Yes, you will see some stray into skirts ( be it shorter than a traditional kilt or longer). However if women complain about high heels why...

Spring has officially sprung

Well, it finally stopped raining long enough to mow the yard. So, I put a digital camo kilt on, got the tractor out and proceeded to mow, stopping a few times to pick up some branches. I've noticed I do not get tired as quickly doing yardwork in a kilt as opposed to pants that restrict movement. It ...

Re: Do folks notice or not?

There was a time I was waiting to see someone else wearing a kilt before I'd wear mine. As that wasn't forthcoming I started to wear my kilts and was more comfortable for it. I wanted to get positive reaction for it. Sometimes they received reaction, sometimes not. I have come to the point that whet...

Oh, they do notice. What's interesting is after they look you over and you ask them what they think they deny having noticed !

Re: Temperature Timeline

We normally do not see those extreme temperature swings in Western PA. But I wish we could get some of that warmth a little earlier in the year. Here's to hoping for a much warmer weekend next week.

Re: Spring is here !

Spring may be there but it's snowing outside in western PA. Chill is down around 20 F. However one of the kilts went to the dry cleaner today. We are getting closer. Groundhog may have been right this year.
