Re: Carhartt is now making kilts

Not only is this product not really made by Carhartt -- it's a design by another company called Blaklader. Here's the original:

Blaklader Glasgow Kilt

Kilt & More seems to be selling a cheap copy using photos lifted from the original brand.

Re: French skirt

I'm also a fan of Hiatus designs who finds the price a barrier - though probably fair, considering the quality and them being made in France. I can appreciate the reasoning of both sides when it comes to knockoffs like this. I believe with apparel, it's legal to copy another brand's design, right do...

Re: Skirtcraft Aqueous Skirt - Delivered !

I received my Aqueous skirt today. My wife hadn't been impressed when she found out the price from a credit card statement, and was less impressed today when I had to pay £20 in customs charges when I collected it from the sorting office, not Skirtcrafts fault. Those negatives aside I'm very happy ...

Skirtcraft update

My second skirt design, the Aqueous Skirt, is live on Kickstarter right now. The project reached its goal amount in five days, so the product is going to be made for sure, in grey! The backers have chosen purple as the stretch-goal color -- it will be added as an option if we get enough additional b...

Re: Skirtcraft Aqueous Skirt - Feedback?

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback. :D SkirtsDad: the curving lines are meant to make the design more interesting than, say, a plain 4-panel skirt. I agree it's not that bold of a design choice - and the purple swoosh looks awesome! The balance I try to strike is to make the design universal enough ...

Re: Skirtcraft Aqueous Skirt - Feedback?

To provide an update for anyone who may be interested: this skirt's Kickstarter campaign is launching tomorrow (er, depending on your time zone), Wednesday, June 20th! The product page has more details about the final version of the skirt. At the top there's a More Details link to detailed informati...

Re: YouTube channel

Hello Finrod! Thanks for the reply. Have you ever been to see Garrison Keillor? I wish I would have gone to St. Paul to see him before he retired. DJ Yes, I went to see Prairie Home Companion at their home Fitzgerald Theater in St Paul in 2007, and in Avon, MN (general vicinity of where Lake Wobego...

Yes, I'm a fan of his videos! He's got a lot of energy for the topic and insightful perspectives. Hasn't posted a video in a while, though.

Re: When in Rome do as the Romans do.

I wish that I had scribbled down a note... A few days ago I came across a web site which had a story about a visitor to Guatemala. The visitor asked if he could wear a coxtar, and his wish was granted. The visitor was considerable taller than the local men. In the image he looked like a white man i...

June 2017 news roundup

There was an avalanche of men's skirt media attention at the end of June. Most of these have already been discussed here, but I wanted to put together a list: 22 June - Guardian: Teenage boys wear skirts to school to protest against 'no shorts' policy 22 June - New Statesman: Cheer the Exeter boys i...

Re: What makes a skirt manly v feminine

This is something I wish a company, such has Haggar, Levi Stause, etc., would be willing to make. My idea of a "Manly" skirt would be as follows..... (you'll have to use your imaginations here ;) ) Basic skirt drawing to look like pants JPEG 2017-05-30.jpg The top part, from the bottom of the zippe...

Re: ROMPERS. . . AARGghhhh!

They're not my cup of tea, but I'm still glad for them. Broadly accepted men's clothing is so very limited, as we know well. This product does represent quite a departure from that realm, relatively speaking. Anything that chips away at the walls stands to benefit the general cause of men's fashion ...

Re: Slideshow and Questionnaire

The presentation is very clear and well put together. The skirts and photography are also excellent. Nice work! I've just submitted my responses. I'm most intrigued by #2 and #9. As I see it, both of them combine elements of kilts and skirts. I haven't seen many (any?) longer but strongly pleated sk...
