Re: Possible Sewing Machine Purchase

I've been using a Singer Tradition 2282, bought from Lidl for £80, for the last 2 years which has covered everything I've done. I've made around 30 skirts/kilts ranging from traditional style tweed kilts using 16oz cloth to a button through cord skirt and 6 panel moleskin midi. It's also handled eve...

Re: Gun control

That's interesting, you can write any sort of ******** on this forum but say it's ******** and you get censored.

Re: Gun control

I don't care whether you have guns or not but please do some proper research before quoting this NRA sponsored ******** about the UK. Homicide by gun per 100,000 people in the USA is 3.63, in the UK it's around 0.05. In area where I live, which funnily enough includes Blackpool, with a population of...

Re: kilts for women

I bought a women's kilt once. It closed on the left side and it's length was about mid calf length. I had it shortened to 24 inches and wear it regularly. What you bought was a kilted skirt. Women's kilts are the same as men's except with a bit more shaping of the aprons and the pleat fell to fit t...

Re: design?

I don't think you can use fabric like the one you suggest for a cone skirt. I believe the fabric is cut in an arc, like a circle skirt, so you need to use a plain fabric or a random pattern. A horizontal pattern would become vertical half way round the skirt.

Re: Educating the public about Freestyle Fashion

I'm afraid I'm with crfriend "Hell no". You are apologising for your fashion choice, and then, by introducing terms such a crossdressing, transvestism etc. and acknowledging they might think that, you are giving them a stick to beat you with. I'm old enough to have seen the arrival of men'...

Re: Saying hello wearing my first kilt

Thanks for the welcome all. In my defence it was a very subtle stripe :D I put my kilt on first thing this morning and have been wandering around the garden and sitting out in the sun with my partner. One of my stepdaughters came over with their partner a couple of days ago and my partner took great...

Any experience of Highland Store budget kilt?

I've had a few days with my first kilt, a budget Tartanista. I love it, but I've realised, as most of my shirts are check, I could do with a plain black kilt. I'd like to take a step up on the cheap kilts so I've been looking around and found Highland Store (based in London some distance from the Hi...

Re: Saying hello wearing my first kilt

Thanks for the welcome. My partner is great. Unlike my ex wife who was always saying "can't you find something more useful to do?" and "no you can't buy that". My partner's attitude is there's no pockets in shrouds, if you want it buy it, and she has never told me I can't do some...

Saying hello wearing my first kilt

I've been a lurker for a while but thought this a good time to say hello. I guess like many I've spent a good few years wondering about kilts and skirts and even taken the occasional foray but always thinking of it as some dirty little secret. With the help of this site and some deep self examinatio...
