A step in the right direction

Interesting to see more designers and starting to market their clothes as gender fluid which is a positive move. If nothing else, they've realised that trying to attract the attention of the other 50% of the population makes good business sense! https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2020-ready-to...

Denim dress

Does anyone here wear denim dresses? I just bought one tonight and plan to wear it tomorrow and it will be the first time i've ever worn a dress in public which although it shouldn't be a big deal, kind of feels like it is (even though it is just a skirt with a top attached to it). It was so nice to...

Re: Fashion media promoting skirts for men

If you do search quite carefully, you will find quite a few collections with men in skirts and dresses. But, to my earlier point, what is frustrating is that for a retailer, there is virtually zero commercial risk in marketing a skirt for a man. What is the worst thing that can happen? Men don't buy...

Re: Clothing envy - does it dissipate?

I was envious of women for a while, but then I came to realise that women fought for their rights (and still do). Men need to wake up and do the same. Interestingly. this is starting to come from the younger generation (generation Z) who have realised the stupidity of gender separation and putting p...

Re: Wearing high heels

I love wearing high heels (i've them on and off nearly 20 years before I discovered skirts!) and for me, they really complete the look of a skirt. So much so, that a lot of the time when I wear skirts, I will gravitate towards high heels. I find that wearing heels gives me not only a height boost, b...

Fashion media promoting skirts for men

I've noticed quite a few articles recently in the fashion press (e.g. Vogue) proudly stating that skirts and dresses are now a "thing" for men. That's great, but how and when will this translate onto the high street? What retailer(s) will be willing to take a commercial risk to promote it? Until (if...

That's a nice skirt! Too small for me, I wear a size 16.

Re: mens london fashion week

Agree with you on denim skirts, I have a few denim maxis that I wear and are gorgeous. And they were cheap! The price levels for anything offered to men will need to drop to sane levels. However, the better option would be for all skirts to start being marketed as unisex, which of course is what the...

Re: mens london fashion week

Lots of skirts and dresses for men at LMFW 2020 I see which is good. The question is when it will start to filter down to the high street? I get the feeling it's going to take one or two big celebrities to help break the mould. Interestingly, there was an article in the Guardian the other day around...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Today I went shopping, and wore an ankle length straight denim skirt which has a nice long slit in the back and I paired it with some new over knee wedge boots with 6 inch heels. With the long slit, I was able to subtly show my boots off and as I don't particularly like showing my hairy legs, coveri...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

First time i've been out in a skirt in ages today. Went to do some food shopping and wore a long black denim stretch skirt paired with 6 inch over the knee wedge boots, for which the combination was incredibly warm and felt awesome. The thing I love about wearing long boots is that you can pair them...

Re: leather skirts

I own and wear an ankle length A line leather skirt. There is nothing like wearing real leather, the way it looks and feels is unique, and butter soft to touch. It is probably my favourite skirt, and with it being fully lined is supremely comfortable to wear. No need for tights either, since because...

Re: Bought my first dress

why ( in the eyes of the rest of society, not us ) is a dress shirt ok on a man but just extend the length of it so it becomes a shirt dress and it suddenly becomes unacceptable ? Completely agree. At what point where you keep extending the length of a dress shirt does it switch from being masculin...

Bought my first dress

it's taken me a while, but I finally took the plunge and bought my first dress: https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0738202001.html All I can say is, wow! Feels amazing and looks amazing, why did I take so long to buy a dress? It is so easy, throw it on and you have an instant outfit. I guess a sm...

Re: Scots and The Kilt.

Going slightly off topic, but Scotland as we know it today, is largely due to Sir Walter Scott! In 1814, he anonymously published a novel called Waverley, now considered the first historical fiction in Western literature. It was a publishing sensation. Influenced by Scott’s idealistic, romantic noti...
