Re: Keeping warm in utilikilts

But thanks for the tip about ice hockey garters! – Too many kneesocks just will not stay up. Not a problem in warm weather, but winter does impose its own priorities.

Re: Skirts and Habits.

When I was visiting a monastery not so long ago, one of the brothers asked for a photo to be taken of him in his habit with me in my 'mini-habit' (Elkommando hiking kilt). :D

Just posted a reply on this topic on the thread 'Skirts in Winter', which overlaps with this thread - they should perhaps be merged?

Re: Skirts for Winter?

Contribution from Turku, Finland: I switched to kilts at midsummer 2012 and have since then put my legs into tubes only under duress: formal occasions (funerals etc, singing in concerts [dark suit or tails]). I managed perfectly comfortably through the winter last year in Manchester, UK, wearing a v...

Re: New kilt on the blog (as it were)

Re: Superb Publicity for the Utilikilt

off-main-topic, but a quick comment about the iPhone away from a wifi connection in the UK: try disabling 3G / 4G and you'll probably get better coverage, as there are simply more masts etc for the longer-established, slower networks on the other hand, i was quite chuffed back in july to get a very ...

Re: New kilt on the blog (as it were)

Good fellow bekilted folk, thanks for so many responses within the first 24 hours! Thanks for the reassurances that "it's OK" for non-Scots to wear a kilt: yes, I know; I also know how historically dubious the allocation of specific tartans to specific clans is (a romantic fiction dreamed ...

New kilt on the blog (as it were)

Greetings kiltwearers everywhere, or more specifically, on Skirtcafe. I live in Finland, though I'm originally (a long time ago) from Yorkshire (and like going back there when I can). Was given my first kilt some five years ago as a quirky Christmas present and liked it; and at Midsummer 2012, switc...
