well, hello!
hi alan.... just saw your posting. history in this cafe (if you've the time or inclination to research) will tell you that rallying up excitement in the nyc area has, for the past several years, been a lost cause. i don't mean in any way to discourage you in your outreach, however. if i see that any...

DRESSED TO KILT & dashing utilikilter
i'm just back from a chance encounter at my local natural food store with a dashing young man in a utilikilt. "is that a utilikilt?" i asked. i love asking these questions. i never let a skirted man go by without chatting him up. it's invariably an upbeat experience. he seemed surprised th...

excitement --- (fasten your seatbelt)!
thanks for showing me (us) how to find the link. this is truly very exciting. these media hotspots (like little earthquakes) can spring up anywhere at any time.... and the ultimate impact can't be readily quantified. i think the quote -- from julia cameron -- that was aptly shared on your message bo...

viva those plaids!
hi bob --
i posted this last year and i think the year before. i went to the parade 2 years ago and it was a blast and i know i posted a post about it.
NOBODY in the cafe seemed interested either time.
good luck drumming up some comraderie. as for me, i'm booked elsewhere.
ciao.

"ducking"
well then....
"ducking" is the operative word, but for you, dear JH, i'd add "covering" too.
without disclosing my waist size specifically, i'd say these are both wonderful offerings, but too large for me.
dear dan: you'll find a lucky buyer!

jumpers
actually, buddy, jumpers are the ONE kind of dress i would be delighted to wear. for years, i've been looking for a black short jumper in velveteen or corduroy.... still haven't found the jumper of my dreams. preferably with pockets. preferably v-neck.
i'm with you on that one!
happy spring!

dreaded dresses dissected
Out of curiousity, may I ask, "Why does one dread wearing a particular type of garment?" It doesn't make a whole lot of rational sense; after all, all clothes are are nothing more than pieces of cloth designed to keep the wearer modest and warm (reverse those two if living in cold climes)...

sizing
petite sizes generally are designed for women shorter than 5 foot 4 inches. then the sizes correspond to what those measurements would be in non-petite world, meaning waist, hip size, etc. -- earthman, please take note! it's not about a different ratio. naturally, the inseam is shorter on petite pan...
