Re: Skirts, Pants, and Deuteronomy 22:5

So why do we need to rehash it over and over again????? I agree with Al it is unnecessary to do so. There are new people in the cafe since the last discussion. They want to be part of the conversation. That's fine with me. People have already said what I had to say--that other verses in the same ch...

Re: Let's never speak this word again

Women wearing pants did not occur, in America, until Katharine Hepburn wore them off a movie setback in the 1940s-50s. My mom told me the story of how when she moved from Chicago to a Minnesota farm in 1930, she was the first girl around to wear snow pants in the winter. It was already normal in Ch...

Re: That rare male compliment

My wife had to be hospitalized in Peoria for about 8 days for neck surgery. I stayed with her, but got to go home once and changed into this dress for comfort. I wore it day and night about 4 days. A lead nurse (male) and a head doctor (female) mentioned it. The nurse thought it very practical and t...

Re: let's list why we like skirts

"Why?" questions aren't even real queries. They're just disingenuous probing into someone else without even the respect of trying to understand their perspective. My answer to "why?" is a little personal, but may be helpful to many, so I will respond. I dealt with an itchy skin ...

Re: Cash or plastic?

"If there is a transactional cost for handling cash", then it stays in local wages, not going to enrich the bankers.

Re: Cash or plastic?

cash-is-king.jpg Spending locally, with cash the money stays local. Fifty transactions from store to store and the money is still local. With plastic, the banks get a percentage, say 1%, each time. With 50 transactions the banks own about half the money. I understand that charging a surcharge for p...

Stu wrote: Sat Jan 20, 2024 11:41 am Non-binary is not a concrete reality. It is motivated by desire and/or uncertainty and/or confusion about one's sex or gender. It is a state of mind - nothing more.
But isn't a state of mind real? You can argue whether it is a choice or delusion, but it is still real.

Re: Gender Neutral Fashion is failing skirt-wearing boys

The term "non-binary" frequently represents a rejection of socially constructed and heteronormative gender roles, rather than a counter-factual denial of biological sex.... A rejection? So it's an ideology rather than a concrete reality? ... Yes, it is a social stance. I'm a naturist. I c...

Same here, although I don't identify as a cross-dresser. Do you regularly go out in public skirted? How do folks in Phoenix react?

Re: Gender Neutral Fashion is failing skirt-wearing boys

It is a normal human response to want to be able to recognise others as being either male or female by sight, and especially if interacting with them. The way that is achieved is through visual signifiers, including dress and hairstyle. That's not going to change. Is this taught or innate? I suspec...

Here in Tiskilwa, Illinois, it's -15°F, with a wind chill of -35°F.

It is forecast to warm up to -6°F this afternoon, with a wind chill of a balmy -25°F.

They even canceled our church service, except by Zoom. I don't think I'll be out and about much today.

Re: Men's? Unisex? Or Women's?

There's no need develop mens skirts. All that needs to be done is to take down the men's dept sign and the women's dept sign and mix the clothes together ie trousers, dresses jumpers etc. This is what I came here to say. The high fashion folks have decreed there are no men's clothes or women's clot...
