Jet builders wear skirts too

Seems like (all right, all right, let go o' me arm.... I distinctly recall that) a similar story has come up here that is a trifle more current, but I came across this one that seemed worth posting, even if it is now a whole decade old. If they can do it then, we can surely do the same today. http:/...

Re: Whats in a Name?

On this point, however, I vehemently disagree. Certainly from an absolutist point of view the kilt is a skirt, but the kilt, in its traditional form, has a "brand recognition" second to none and should be respected. Failure to respect that "brand", I feel, is, at best, disrespec...

Re: Live Steam

A car in an electrical storm is one example of this, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with the tyres; if a bolt of lightning is gone to travel 2 or 3 miles Earthward from a cloud a set of Michelins is not going to stop it. The actual effect will be a direct arc from the lowest piece of the under...

Re: Live Steam

The copper rod would be a great deal faster. Just make sure it isn't long enough for him to weld it between wire and tram, so you don't give the driver too much of a reason to get mad at you. As for the faraday cage, that has more to do with shielding EM fields. The reason a car would be safe is pri...

Guess you better give your good club to the nice kid, and your old beat up, falling apart one to the annoying sort. Get them into a contest to see who can get the most pigeons.

Re: Pepper Spray

Eastern Oahu, roasting hot? I suppose it depends somewhat on your definition of roasting hot, but by the parallel it is quite cool there with the trades blowing in nearly all the time. There's a gargantuan air conditioner out there to keep things reasonable.

Re: Is Google doing evil?

I think I have some notion of what it takes to deal with the spam, having a trifle of experience managing user commentable sites, and thank you for doing a good job of it. And then there are those rare spam messages that take a little looking to verify. Beastly things. I rather like your spambot/hum...

Re: Grandson (2) only wants to wear sisters shoes!

The style of writing that I use, featuring elements like full sentences, is functionally obsolete for communication with the "busy businessman" of the modern era who expects bite-sized chunks in bullet-lists to save his valuable time. (This allows them to make mistakes faster.) Mid-level ...

Re: Stylist in a dress

I'll put three zeroes immediately following the decimal-point as the highest probability thereof. Is there a percent sign following that number? As for the original photo, modulo the white shoulder pieces and the hair pieces which I doubt I would care for on anyone, I think it looks quite fine. Pro...

Re: Grandson (2) only wants to wear sisters shoes!

As far as my "command of the language" goes, I find myself continually getting in trouble for it at work with the higher-ups; however, I really love the language, and try my level best to do it justice even if doing so occasionally causes grief. Hmmm... at the risk of being excessively of...
