Re: Corona Virus

I see customers spending hundreds of pounds on household goods and they are not even Christmas presents! As for our family we don't really bother with presents. What do you get the woman that has everything? We don't need any more baubles and trinkets. If we need anything we buy it. All we need is e...

Re: World leaders and skirts

Well, quite the nationalist, aren't we? As far as currency how a fully independent Scotland would treat its currency has not yet been explained. The options are quite well explained in the following publication: https://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/sites/default/files/publications/currency-inde...

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING

My great grandmother was alive until I was 19. When I was very young I used to delight in going to see her and having a inch and a half doorstop of bread from an uncut loaf spread thick with butter [0] and a loads of either home made raspberry or strawberry jam on top. Sandwiches made in such a mann...

Re: International Skirt Day 2022

Don't forget that Mark inadvertently and recently ran a one-man publicity campaign, with articles in newspapers, multiple sites carrying his story. The ripples are still resounding around the web even as we post. He has had tremendous support from us all. And what has he really accomplished? Has it ...

Re: World leaders and skirts

bodycon, I get that you are anti-monarchy so you don't need to go on about it. I agree with pelmut, from your northern perch you are unable to feel or see the pro-monarchy element down here. It's not an insignificant movement. You Scots sometimes get blinded by your separatism. BTW, I'm not anti-mon...

Re: World leaders and skirts

Don't like her skirts in general. She seems to wear a lot of pencil skirts and they are too tight in the knee area. It's just my preference though, there are some on this site that enjoy them and that's their prerogative. As for the Royals, well, I think that the politicians, and most especially the...

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Fred, we can have EVERYTHING in a sandwich. When I was very young sugar sandwiches were popular. If it will fit between two slices of bread the someone, somewhere will have had it. What you described would be a bog-standard turkey sandwich. Yes, a curry over here can be made with turkey although the...

Re: Corona Virus

I think the AZ 2 stage immunisation is UK wide as standard for the adult age groups, r_k, so it would be safe to extrapolate the number of AZ shots from that. Yes, the actual numbers are commercially sensitive and this was noted early on in the vaccination programme when probing questions were asked...

Re: First Snow...

We had very unusual sort of sleet with more snow than rain in the precipitation. When I kicked out of work at 7pm there was a thin layer of snow on the car but it was so cold that the snow, and underlying layer of water had frozen. The ice scraper was needed to clear the windows. Not had those condi...

Re: International Skirt Day 2022

I probably won't be much help, I'm afraid. My ideal would be to convince my wife that my wearing a skirt anywhere is no big deal and have her accompany me out in the wide world. If I could do that it would mean more to me than any large-scale adoption of the skirt by men. :D

There was a Guiness advert that pushed the clothing boundary of men's wear somewhat: # https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1fbUbDoGnA . I think there was a brief glimpse of a man with a woman's hair style. I especially love the yellow suit worn by one of the men among some other of the bright colours. ...

r_k, try https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-vaccinations/ . Official NHS site. Click on any of the links and they lead to spreadsheets with the appropriate data. I didn't have to search far, I just put "covid vaccine usage in uk" in google. I think that there was t...

Fred, .... and turkey stew, and turkey curry, casserolled turkey ....

Over here turkeys tend to survive for a number of meals and an effort is made to use up the turky in a number of different formats.

Sorry, Haza and Meagain and "honest job" just don't occur in the same sentence. Meme isn't exactly popular over here. Mine strew, in the photo [0] they look as gormless as each other.

Re: Clinching Argument

Stu, this is where the situation enters a whole new realm of complexity, at least in my case. My wife is fine with me wearing outside other "feminine" garments such as T-shirts, vests but the limit is just reached with spaghetti strap tops. Other garments such as jeans - stretch, bright colours, red...
